Newbie Question

Hi I am getting ready to purchase my very first rottie for conformation. I have been showing APBT for 3 yrs now and have decided to branch to AKC and after much consideration have chosen to purchase 1 male rottie to show. This dog is going to be with me all the time and I am very new to the rottie pedigrees. I am looking at a breeding and was wondering if anyone had any opinions? Dam:Tara Von Hasan Hause
Sire:Fox Von Der Teufelsbrucke
Fox's sire is Rick Von Burgthann
Tara's sire was Bronko Od Dragicevica
I would also like to branch into Schutzhund after he earn's his conformation title
Thanks so much for anyones help.

Post Re: Newbie Question

You may have mispelled the names...but I went to www.offa.org
and is see no signs of hips, elbows, eyes or heart clearnances.
Have the sire or dam and show titles themselves?

I would not be buying a puppy (either a pet or show prospect) without the sire or dam having any health clearances.

Re: Newbie Question

Both dogs are imports, sire form Germany and Dam from Yugoslavia. So I doubt you would find anything in OFA. From what I could find, the sire looks good, titles, hips and elbows. There is nothing on the Dam, however. Also these dogs from strong working lines might not do so well in the AKC ring.

Re: Newbie Question

Bronko is from the same breeder as my boys mom, Viki OD Dragicevica. My Boy look amazing, you can see his pics in the gallery under my screen name.

Re: Newbie Question

While there are some nice things in Fox's bottom side that I do like. I do disagree that this is a pedigree with strong working lines.

Best of luck, and I hope you get just what you are looking for. Certainly potential for the show ring!

Re: Newbie Question

Also would not consider the dogs mentioned as being "working blood".

If you are serious about possibly getting a SchH title, my suggestion would be to concentrate on his training for the sport first (always at an appropriate level for his age), get his title and then pursue the mind numbing AKC showring.

Good luck!

Re: Newbie Question

I'm not good at the bloodline thing either, but Gretta's pedigree has a large amount of Teufelsbrucke, Burgthann lines and she is DRIVEN and very excellent temperment. She would make for great schH! The next pup I am getting has lines similar to the Dam's lines. Have you spoken to the breeder? Have you looked further into these lines to see if they have won any titles? Good luck on finding your perfect pup!

Re: Newbie Question

In reading your post, I found alot of names jumping out at me. I re-read some paperwork I have on a new pup I'm obtaining on Nov 6 and found out why.

My pups sire is Dionys Od Dragicevica and his sire is Odo Od Dragicevica a champ of Yogoslavia. Further reading shows the entire lineage and its amazing how many similar names are present. I'm wondering if we dealt with the same breeder. Or atleast pups tracing back to this breeder.
