Re: USRC Rottweiler SIEGER NATIONALS - who's going?

I would love to go to this. I've never been to a dog show and to be at a Rottie one would be exceptional! Could I go as a spectator with a 10 mo Rottie and family?! I would love to let my hubby and son see how much we can do with our baby. I bet I could learn lots there too. Hmm, will have to work on this. I'll tell hubby it's a romantic w/e away with the dog and our son, yeah right!

This is a great opportunity to see a lot of rotts showing and talk to people, but (and I'm trying to be straight forward here also), it is not a good place to bring a dog just to walk around with a lot. Dogs not entered need to stay quite a ways away from the show ring. It is not a place to help socialize your dog (in my opinion). Not saying that was your intent, just giving my opinion.

Re: USRC Rottweiler SIEGER NATIONALS - who's going?

Thanks Skip, will definitely take your opinion to heart being that I haven't a clue what to expect. That was in the back of my mind actually. I am better off leaving my baby home. Boo hoo, first time seperated from him overnight! I think I would just like to take everything in myself, talk to people and not have to worry about Buddy getting crazed by all the beauty queens that will be there! I am going to look into it for myself and son (9yo) as I would like to expose him to this and also learn as much as he can about the Rottie. I am sure it would be a great experience for my 9 yo son. Thanks for the advice.

You will enjoy it without the dog. The first couple I went to, I did not take a dog at all. Glad I didn't. As far as "beauty queens", most owners will strive to keep their dogs under control, but you will see a lot of high drive, intact WORKING dogs that will waste no time in letting someone else's young dog know that it's not play time at the show. And since it is a National event, we all want things to go as smoothly as possible.

Hey Sammy! Didn't know you were on here! Glad to see you! Thanks for the offer but looks like Alex and Force will be in the same class this time. Force's breeder will be there as well as some other friends, so we have it covered
