driving vs. flying

I will start this thread by saying that I am flying to Chicago so I am not wrestling with that decision but one of the answers to that thread got me wondering...how far is too far before you fly? Would you drive 10 hours but not 14? Just curious as to what thresholds most of you have for driving and flying...

For many people, it is not distance so much as it is time. Time is limited and to spend precious days off sitting in a car can go on to cost you that Friday off that would make a show weekend easier. Other factors might be do you have someone to share the driving with so you can make better time? Do you enjoy sitting in a car and driving cross country or do you hate it? Or, do you have someone to share the rental car, hotel room with after you get to your destination? How available are direct flights? How important is that show anyway?

I will not fly a dog to a show. For me personally if a show is too far for me to drive then I don't go, Ihave never felt that any show or trial is worth flying a dog

For a one or two day special type of show I'd say 12-14 hours would be my maximum. For a multi day show, providing I could get the right amount of time off and someone to come with me, then I'd be willing to take 2 days of driving

I'm in NH and I've gone to PA for CRC and Ontario for Ontario Valley Sieger show to date but those were exceptions. My usual limit for a regular show or trial is 4 hours
