Hello Everyone,

I’m very proud to announce that our Northern Ontario Regional Specialty was a hit. We had over 100% growth over last year at our new venue for this event, Trio Kennel & Obedience Club in Bradford, Ontario. Once again, Mother Nature was on our side – sun, breeze and pleasant temperatures kept everyone comfortable and the atmosphere light. The Trio team put on an incredible event, one that I am delighted to associate our club with.

Laughter rang out across the show grounds Saturday night when the RCC Membership’s own Dalton Riseborough delighted the crowds during the annual All-Breed, All Age Costume Sweepstakes. Hilarity ensued when Dalton appeared, dressed as a queen. Complete with wig, tiara, makeup, 5 o’clock shadow, sequined dress (umm, next time Dalton, PLEASE wear a slip), cape and sequined shoes; he dominated the ring. Please trust me when I say that my description is NOT doing him justice. Queen wave, bizarre wiggle-walk and various versions of a curtsy completed the portrayal.

A very close runner-up Barbarian Headhunter with a Vizsla, decided to take a trip with our Queen, arm-in-arm when asked for another go around by the Judge, Shane Fisher. We should all be very proud of Dalton and Waylon’s performance. Needless to say, the team won Best In Costume Show, much to the glee of the teary, laughing audience. There are pictures – I’ll just have to wrestle them off of Dalton long enough to scan them in for everyone to see. ;-)

Sunday found various Rottweiler people from across the grounds joining together for a Pot Luck Lunch. It was great to see everyone together, chatting and enjoying each other’s company.

We had 1 entry each in our Parade of Champions and Parade of Veterans. Thank you Cassie! This is a great class to bring out your dogs and give them their moment in the spotlight. They’ve earned a fun day at the show with the crowds cheering just for them. I hope to see more entries in the future in these classes. And although I didn’t get any entries for our Sexually Altered, Stud Dog or Brood Bitch classes – I’m going to continue to offer them. These classes are for you, so that ANY dog can come out to the show. I hope to see more participation in the future!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: If you weren’t at the Specialty today, you missed an important announcement. The 2006 National Rottweiler Specialty will be held at Trio Kennel & Obedience Club in Bradford, Ontario in August next year! This venue has EVERYTHING we could hope for (ample space, shade, indoor obedience, facilities for health testing, fabulous show crew, etc.). We’ll have our National Specialty, a National Obedience Trial, Cardiac Clinic by OVC Cardiologist Dr. Mike O’Grady and MORE! Please stay tuned for more exciting announcements regarding both the 2005 and 2006 Nationals!

I also would like to thank Joe Panaro – our own RCC Vice President and Show Chairperson. His help was indispensable during my preparation of this event. Joe, we couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you!

Now on to the results…. We had a Booster on Saturday, August 6th with Mrs. E. Whitmore. Sunday, August 7th provided us with Puppy Sweeps as judged by Pam McClintock and our Specialty as judged by Mr. Antonio DiLorenzo of Italy. We also boostered all 4 Obedience Trials and witnessed some great working dogs doing what they do best; Work!

Ann asked me for an elastic today at ringside - and ENDED UP PUTTING IT ON ME AND GIVING ME A DOG!! You guys know I haven't been in the ring since the "Running into the ropes fiasco" right?

Well I didn't run into the ropes this time, I didn't run into a tent pole, I didn't fall down. Although I did get left behind when the field left for their go around. But Ward Bailey (another handler) took pity on me and waited.

I didn't do too badly, because little Dixie got BOW!

So although I owe Ann a swift kick in the pants - I had fun.

It was a great weekend. If you guys missed it - you MUST be there next year. Not only is it a great show but it's also going to be the Canadian National!

Hannah is in the PERFECT home!! Working home doesn't even BEGIN to descibe it! Lisa has always had high expectations of her little Hannah because she knew the dog had the ability to DO what was asked of her. That dog has done that and MORE!

I swear Lisa will have to build a complete WING onto her home to display all of Hannah's winnings!!! She has done so well with Lisa...and Lisa is the type of person who is VERY generous in sharing what SHE has learned in the ring and about trialing with everyone who asks her (like me!). A great teacher and a great owner!!
