Welcome to the Breeding Forum!

This forum is a place to discuss issues related to the breeding of dogs: genetics, registration issues, whelping, leasing versus owning, estrus cycles, correct temperament and breed standard, to name a few. While this forum may seem to be comprised mainly of active breeders, we welcome any and all questions from folks who are researching the requirements related to Code of Ethics breeding in order to make an informed decision as to whether or not this monumental responsibility is a commitment worth making. Breeding, after all, is not just about having a litter of puppies to sell. Breeding is hard work and is not something to be done merely to get back the purchase price of your dog through the sale of puppies. Breeding is years of research, devotion, heartache, loss of sleep, and can be quite an expensive endeavor. COE breeders take responsibility for not only their own dogs, but their progeny as well, for life.

There are many excellent threads to be found in this forum, and answers to many of the routine questions that people have can be found by using the search function.

We welcome litter announcements, but please keep in mind that advertising litters for sale, whether through a post or via web link, is strictly prohibited, as is the discussion of specific breeding kennels. If you want to share pictures of your new bundle(s) of joy, please feel free to do so in the “Picture This!” forum

It is Rottweiler.net’s hope that the information contained in this forum will help people understand why breeding is something that should not be undertaken without a great deal of research, and why there should be a lot more thought given to purchasing a puppy than just driving to the local pet store or calling an ad placed in the paper. Preservation of the breed through responsible breeding and education of potential buyers will always remain the Breeding forum’s primary goal.
