Calgary, AB - Litter of Rotts approx. Nov/07

I am wondering what the possibility is that someone on here may know of somebody who had a litter of pups that may have included my pup. It would be amazing to know her background if possible.

Usually this would be a stretch to hope for, BUT considering my pup is pure bred and has bilateral, identical brown spots on both ears, the chances somebody may be familiar seem possible to me.

She was born approximately the beginning of November 2007. I have no idea if she originally came from the Calgary area but I do know she was found by Animal Services in the Forest Lawn area --- for some reason I am thinking she came from a BYB due to the area she was found in, but who knows.

On our daily walks I am stopped by AT LEAST 2 different sets of people who comment on her "beautiful markings" and say just how beautiful a rotti she is, outside and inside... makes me wonder if she actually is bred from decent lines????

Anybody have a litter around that time in or around this area?

There are several COE rottweiler breeders in / around Calgary....none of whom I KNOW have had litters during that time frame.

That being said there is also a very prolific byb that lives around Calgary somewhere who has taken the commercialization of rottweiler puppies to a whole new level. I've heard that IF you can't afford a puppy from her that is OK she will GIVE you a puppy however her name stays on its registration papers and then you owe her a whole litter of puppies back by 1-1.5 years of age. She encourages her puppy homes to themselves become byb'ers.

I can't tell you how many of her homes contact me for advice or training concerns or for a new puppy in the future after they get tired of all the garbage that this "breeder" puts them thru. Its rather shocking that her antics have been allowed to continue for so many years.

Did animal services check her over thoroughly for any form of ID? Even this breeder whom I'm thinking of does permanently ID her puppies as she does register everything....so if it came from her there would be either a tattoo or microchip. We've actually seen a fair number of her dogs in the pound and all we've ever seen is tattoos actually.

I'm glad that you have a lovely puppy now for yourselves. Enjoy her and make a lovely companion and ambassador of the breed out of her!!

In terms of your comment of bilateral brown spots at her ears.....its a growth thing with puppies.....most of my babies have had the spots (its actually undercoat showing through the puppy coat) and it goes away once she develops her adult coat!!

She has been thoroughly checked for tattoos... unfortunately she was spayed at 3 mths by AS (yes, I realize the long term issues I will most likely be faced but she is absolutely worth it and to know she is in a good home w/ me makes it even more worth it) therefore pretty much the majority of her abdomen was shaved and nadda. In fact, I had her tattooed for the first time at work when we did a tear duct flush... that's a whole other story in its self.

Regarding her brown spots on her ears... wow, I honestly didn't know that and I've been around rotti pups millions of times before and have never noticed before. In fact, have had rotti owners comment on them as they've never seen it before either?! Not that I doubt you, just perhaps a coinsidence on my part but it makes sense.

Hehe, to be honest, I kinda of liek her spots and think they make her unique... I'd be kinda sad if she "loses" them lol.

I look forward to having an abassador of the breed, she surely is on her way. People just ADORE HER when we go for walks. Young and old stop to play with her because she just "looks so welcoming" lol - I was definitely surprised by that, I was expecting ppl to run away and this reaction is actually thrilling. It may be the area of the city I live in but the majority of the ppl I run into always say "Rotti's are the sweetest, I don't understand why they have such bad reps" lol... THEN A GUY ON A FREAKIN' SKATEBOARD ZOOMS PAST US WITH HIS PITTIE ON A RETRACTABLE LEASH ..... wait for this.... DRAGGING A 15" TIRE ATTACHED TO THE DOGS HARNESS BY TWO ROPES... Yup... so I nearly lost my mind... poor dogs hind leg muscles were NASTY they were so large... :( Some would argue this "tires" them --> leading to no aggression blah blah. I think this is training him to, obviously, be incredibly strong and agile, but to tolerate pain... oh my...

Was she checked all over for a chip? Not just between the shoulders but her entire body and legs (chips occasionally move)

Not in Canada, many breeders in Canada do the tattoo in the groin area. Both of my dogs are tattooed there, as well I found some of the dogs brought into rescue had tattoos in the groin. Ear tattoos for Rotties don't seem to be popular in this part of the country at least.

Quade had been tattooed in his ear but we were told by the Breeder that getting him micro-chipped was a good idea as sometimes the tattoos fade. This was the case in our old boy Halen, his tattoo had faded by the time he was 7.
