lacking bone and substances on show work prospects?

I have been taking my time looking forTOP quality female pup forshow and work with heavy bone and substance.please no offense to any one but are the germans purposly going leaner and sportier for the sake of work but sacrificing conformation?. In lookin at pedigrees and visiting 3 shows this year,it looks like we are following suit. I wish I could have seen moe heavy bone.I will send my deposit to the.breeder thati think will give more than a fair shake. As in the end that really all you can do sincere there no true guarantees at 8 weeks. There some world class breaders out there and the choices are tough. I will roll the dice toward the breeder that been good for me in the past and this time I willbe patient just like the last show prospect. Thanks for letting vent on the fustrations of acquiring a top quality pup, trust your breader but do your homework as there are no guarntees

the germans aren't going away from substance in order to gain working ability and cut down on conformation. you have to remember that the rottie is first a working dog. you can have both working ability and conformation with good substance. I have that with my males, they are pretty and can track and bite like top shelf.....that being said there are breeders that have that, I know of many breeders that have that. let me know if you want a referral.

also imo american bred rotties(most) are overstandard, overweight with no ability to work. they run around a small ring and they're done, put those things in a german seiger show and 99% will die out during the run.

What are you looking for? Just a show dog? Show dogs don't have to be large and/or heavy boned to fit the standard. Your preference may be large and heavily boned (as is mine for my MALES), but conformationally correct comes in more packages than just large and heavy boned. This is why the standard allows for more than just that .....

Re: lacking bone and substances on show work prospects?

Thanks for your replies. I have limited experience in working as I just joined a shutzhund club and have recently shown a pup at the ARV for the first time.We will go on a waiting list for show potential female that can also work.iam going to go with the same breeder that got me my male.before going back my breeder, I looked at other fantastic breeders that I have met the USRC and ARV.I was impressed and compared quality vssubstance from all 3 kennels I was looking at and no withstnding my breeder price for a show prospect being resonable, they had more substance in what I can see.I must shamelessly confess thatfind it hard to pay between 3k-5K for puppy.last year a friend through work wanted to get me german import as he is German.sorry I did not like the pup for 5k.
So I will contnue to learn slowly and be patience hope that deposit goes to good use
