Backyard Breeder Busted!!!

I hope they put the screws to this lady....She has had numerous violations over the years and actually had her license revoked once. Check out how many different breeds of "champion" show dogs she breeds, even the rare white Doberman...

link to the story Kennel Owner Has History Of Animal Neglect - Detroit News Story - WDIV Detroit

Do a search on the kennel - the name is in the story. I would post the link, but I'm not sure if it's against the rules.

Re: Backyard Breeder Busted!!!

very interesting! I looked up her website and there are so many warning signs that this is a BYB. I thought it was interesting that she actually had this posted on her site...one word comes to mind LIAR!!!!

"With the vast amount of back-yard breeders and puppy mills in operation today, you'll have peace of mind knowing that a dog from ****** Kennels was the result of years of effort based on a deep rooted commitment to the breed. "

Thumbs down Re: Backyard Breeder Busted!!!

I also read the article and looked at her "very well put together pretty website" I feel bad for the dogs but at least they are getting the help they need. No one should have that many dogs :(

My first thought after reading that statement about their commitment to the breed was "which one?" She bred four different breeds.

I wonder how many people fell for the rare white Dobie line. If I'm reading AKC's site correctly that color's not allowed and is a disqualifying fault.

Re: Backyard Breeder Busted!!!

All their adult dogs look great; do you think she really shows them? Seeing the pictures of all those dogs set up like "show" dogs is what sucks people in.

The only blunt "signs" I noticed were the multiple breeds of dogs available. Can you believe the last part about the "vast amount of puppy mills"...so sad, but this happens all the time.

poor dogs

Re: Backyard Breeder Busted!!!

What blows my mind the most is the amount of animals that were taken, 60 dogs, 12 cats, and a HORSE! The location of this mill is in the middle of a large city! Now they are going to try a place all those animals in an area that is being devastated by the economy woes... Maybe if the fines and/or real possibilty of jail time was present, crap like this wouldn't happen.

That's just sick and sad. and the fact that they found a skinny horse along with all the dogs and cats is strange to me.
