| Any other advice for a novice breeder? Good news - I found a Tosa club and one of the members is interested in breeding his female to a Rott. We agreed for me to have my choice of the product litter, so based on some of the advice I've gotten from posters here I guess I'll take a female (lol, with my luck it'll be all boys aaargh). Any other advice for a novice breeder? Any shots or stuff my dog should get before he does the job? I'll of course time it so that by the time the pups are born my friend will be back already to take his dog. Howbout once the pup is here (I guess after 2 months at the earliest)? Seperate them, give them limited supervised time, or what? I'm starting to build the kennel/enclosure for the temp foster tomorrow, so that'll still be there once I get the pup and my friend's dog is back home. Thnx again to the posters who replied with constructive advice without resorting to infantile namecalling even though you strongly disagree with my plans. I respect that. To the others, all I can say is I have a thick skin so I won't whine to the mods about the verbal abuse but I still think it's inappropriate for an info board like this. |

| Re: Any other advice for a novice breeder? Things must be vastly different in Korea than here in the U.S. - where shelters are FULL of "mutts" - which is what the female will have by crossing these two breeds. Neutering comes to my mind as something your male should have done 'prior to doing the job'. Any 'club member' of a breed specific club, who is willing to cross breeds to get mutts is no 'club member' with any standing - at least they would not be here in the US. Having common sense shouldn't vary from country to country........

| Re: Any other advice for a novice breeder? I am very sorry but I have to ask Are you high? Why on earth would you want to breed these two breeds together. You are just going to get very dangerous dogs. The Tosa has a very high fight drive, dog aggression and more and mixing that withn the Rottweilers drives is going to make one horrible horrible dog If you were in the US, I'd say you were planning on a lawsuit after one of the pups bites someone

| Re: Any other advice for a novice breeder? I have a piece of constructive advice: (1) Find a vet (2) pay for a neuter for your boy & have operation done (3) be happy with your healthy happy neutered boy Frankly I don't even know why you would come on her gloating about doing such an insane breeding and then asking for advice with the resultant progeny ![]() I can already foresee the future.....you are going to end up with an aggressive high drive dangerous puppy and then are going to come back here seeking advice on how to deal with her issues. Be responsible NOW and stop this problem from ever being born in the future. However considering how well you seem to listen to advice posted, I doubt you'll neuter him nor be responsible about anything ![]() Heather Peters |

| Re: Any other advice for a novice breeder? After seoultrader's posts in the Behavior Forum, I think it's safe to say we have a troll alert. The OP is looking for a reaction, folks. Nevertheless, I hope the responses to this horrifying post serve to educate someone. You never know - there may actually be people out there who don't understand that breeding a Tosa to a Rottweiler is completely unethical, irresponsible, and likely dangerous to boot.

| Re: Any other advice for a novice breeder? Sure, seoultrader, I certainly have advice for a novice breeder. It's brief, to the point, and understandable for even one as clueless as you. Don't do it. Leave it to COE, responsible, bona fide breeders. These are people who understand that breeding is much more than producing mutts. Please share this advice with the equally clueless Tosa owner. |
