Breeders in B.C?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows of any breeders that could be recommended to me from B.C, Canada or anywhere somewhat close. I am ready to get another pup after losing my boy last february. Thank you.

Re: Breeders in B.C?

While there is much information posted regarding what to look for in a good breeder, and our members can also help you learn more, please keep in mind it is not allowed to discuss named breeders on the forums.

I would contact your local Rottweiler Club they should be able to give you names of COE breeders who are expecting litters.

Post Re: Breeders in B.C?

The club for Canada is the RCC Rottweiler Club of Canada - Rottweilers in Canada
There are many good COE breeders in B.C., and there are also dogs in rescue in B.C.

Also go to the CKC website and look at "Events"....there will be dog shows listed in your area that are coming up.

Please don't expect to get a puppy quickly...sometimes it happens that a breeder has a puppy that they have not placed, but most often you may have to wait for the breeding to happen, then for 8 weeks more. You have to build a relationship with your breeder.

Also you never really told us what happened to your previous dog....some breeders may be reluctant to sell you a dog if it died or was killed because of something preventable.

Re: Breeders in B.C?

Just to expand upon what Gina said.....there is also another site:

Canuck Dogs which has dog shows listed by region....BC/Prairies/Ontario....etc.....you can pick a show closest to where you are to go down and possibly meet a breeder.

There is also a BC Specialty show where I'm sure there will be a lot of breeders from not only BC but surrounding provinces/states as well.....it is posted as occurring on July 27/08 but I'm not sure where yet. For more details whenever they're posted keep checking the Coming Events page on the Rottweiler Club of Canada website.

Re: Breeders in B.C?

I would suggest your search to include contacting and talking to quality COE breeders in WA state. A number of them do not frequent the BC shows. Thus you can get a broader impression of the differing dogs and lines available in the Pacific Northwest. There are usually larger attendances at the AKC and German style shows in the US.

Take your time - research every breeder. Then go to a big show and compare different dogs. You will find this is most educational.

Good luck

Re: Breeders in B.C?

If I were you - I would speak to more than a couple of COE breeders. That way the "hope" factor becomes more of a "know" factor. It is not just about the dogs you are looking at - it is about their lineage, and how they compliment - or take from their genetic combinations.

There are resourceful COE breeders in WA, and elsewhere. Also many old time breeders do not breed any more - but have good insight into the breed. To get a true representation of what is available, not just the flavor of the day in the rings - you should take more time to research thoroughly before committing yourself to any breeder, litter, or puppy.

Understand the lines - for example - what are the differences between American bred lines - and ADRK German bred lines? It is ALL about proven type, structure, health, temperament, and working ability.

Good luck -

Re: Breeders in B.C?

Well I have contacted about 4, but will look into learning more about the lines. I've done plenty of research on the breed and have owned a rotti in the past, got pics of him on this site. Thank you for your interest and I will do my best to learn more. I am just looking for a pet quality pup and have no plans of showing but I understand its still good to learn as much as possible.

Really - research? - You came on here asking - and a few days later - you have done plenty of this. OK - so you have.

4 contacts? In the span of developing in this breed, most Experienced folks cannot quantify the number of breeders, trainers, nutritionists, veterinarians, surgeons, handlers, and other related intelligent people they resourced regarding getting or owning their dog(s). You stipulate you want a pet. Do you want it to be a beautiful looking pet? Obviously you want your pet to be healthy, and of excellent correct temperament.

Not everyone can produce this. You could get something else.

It is not necessary to thank me for my interest, as I was purely providing some educational information, for you and anyone else. Ownership of a Rottweiler does not qualify one as having knowledge. Knowledge is earned with time, trials, patience, mistakes, and sacrifices.

Good luck - and I am done.
cheers

lol ive been learning about the breed for over 6 years not 4 days, I came here to ask if anyone could recommend any reputable breeders in my area. Sometimes you can talk to a million different breeders sometimes you can talk to one and learn all you need to learn. I dont know why your getting worked up, and I wont thank you for your interest if you dont want me too. Pretty funny how people come on here to ask a simple question and get ripped into, if you want to get something across to someone theres ways to say it. But have yourself a good nite.

Oh someone familiar, how have you been? Was a rough time, decided to just keep my mind off of it so thats why I never came on here and said anything. Yea I went through my inbox when I finally logged back in after a year and saw one of your messages saying you had a picture of him in your fav album. Hope everythings good with you, any new additions to the family?

No...my heart was too broken....I don't think I'll get another dog. I enjoy other peoples' now.

How did Tyson pass away?

Are you looking for a male or female this time? Did you get on a waiting list?
I'm excited for you!
