Re: protective rottie moms?

Well I am no expert, none of my dogs have OFA, certifications etc nor woould I expect any. They have all been rescues. If I were paying big bucks for a dog - I would certainly want the paperwork. Thank you but no thank you, BYB. Keep looking.

And just because she has been a BYB for 30 years does not meaning she is doing it right.
Amen! And here's the proof in this thread. I get the '30 year' thing from people all the time when it comes to dogs.....they've been breeding, training, raising, bla, bla, bla.... dogs for 30 years. I usually reply with 'I guess you can do something the wrong way for 30 years'. And of course they will continue to do something wrong if they don't care, or are too stubborn to realize they don't know everything.

Glad you're smart enough to do you're research and take your time to find a good breeder. Congrats, you're already smarter than someone who's been breeding for 30 years.

Re: protective rottie moms?

i told the woman nicely thank you for corresponding with me, and that since she didnt health test for eyes, hearts or show her females, that i was not going to come see the pup.

here is her response to me:

Hi Maryellen

Good luck to you. There isn't a rottweiler breeder I know that does all those clearances. Even in Germany. And if you find one the price may surprise you. I do wish you well in your search

Why does this not surprise me? We all know what they say about birds of a feather.......

This idiot is trying to push your "impulse item" purchase button with all this garbage. Good for you for not being fooled by it.

Since all her breeder friends are of the BYB variety, this response is perfectly valid.

On this she has a point.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how reasonable you'll find the price, given all the work, time, effort, and expense that went into that puppy.

Re: protective rottie moms?

oh dont worry she cant use impulse tactics on me.. i have done my research, and know i will be paying more then normal for a pup whose parents are health tested, and this woman was trying to sell me the 9 week old female for $1500. well sorry, but if i am going to pay $1500 for a dog the parents better be health tested, titled, and shown... not stuck in some yard with no socialization and bred ... i want a healthy sound temperment dog.. not a genetic mess ..

i have all the time in the world to get a pup, so i plan on going nice and slow..

yeah, byb's always say there is no such thing.. i could have been mean and sent her a link to a breeder who does health test and follows the breeders coe , but that breeder is for a different breed of dog and is now deceased, and this breeder would probably not have understood all the titles the dogs had on them or the health testing..

i wasnt sure if she was a byb, as her website looked really nice, but the more i emailed her the more i was sure she was a byb..

she never once asked for a vet reference or my number either, yet the breeder in TN called me within 15 minutes of me filling out her app , and had me on the phone for 2 hours while i was here at work... that is a HUGE difference to a breeder that is a byb and a breeder that cares..

i am not going with the TN breeder as i cant see the pups as i am in nj, and i would prefer a breeder close enough for me to drive to to see the pups and parents..

Re: protective rottie moms?

FYI , there is one breeder in TN to stay way away from , I understand that she is the type that can spin beautiful stories for many hours , hope that is not who you were talking to.

Re: protective rottie moms?

I was not looking for you to name the kennel , just did not want you to be sucked into the ugly web of this one TN kennel , one sign will be that this person is not going to stop calling you. It is a mute point since you are not going that far for a puppy anyway.
