| Atlantic Canada Breeders Hi everyone, I have been interested in getting a Rottweiler for the past year. I will be buying my first home in the next couple of months and feel that I will have the proper environment to properly raise/own a Rottweiler. I have spent countless hours pouring over information regarding this breed on the internet and know I have the information required to own a Rottweiler. As this will be my first Rottweiler I know it will be a learning experience. I am wondering if anyone could other some help with some questions. 1. Finding a reputable breeder in the Martimes. I have several names researched, but if someone has dealt with breeders in this area I would love to hear from them. 2. Does anyone know of good trainers in the Halifax, Nova Scotia area, experiences with the Rottweiler breed? Thanks for your time! |

| Re: Atlantic Canada Breeders Best bet would be to try the Rottweiler Club of Canada website at Rottweiler Club of Canada - Rottweilers in Canada. I just checked the breeder listings and was only able to find one which is Steinplatz rottweilers who are RCC members. I also checked the CanuckDogs website at Canuck Dogs and clicked under Atlantic breeders and found one which I know aren't RCC members however the litter they have listed is interesting, both parents have their chic ratings thru OFA which means that they have had each test done and results posted on the OFA site. Sire I have seen and like, I know nothing about the dam however but it may be worth checking out Galwood Rottweilers. Magnum (the sire....) has been producing some lovely pups that I have seen too!! (and is solid tempered from what I have seen as well). As I said tho I know nothing about the breeder or what they strive for in their breedings so it would be up to you to pursue. Best of luck!! ![]() Heather Peters |

| Re: Atlantic Canada Breeders I know of the breeder and Dam mentioned above. Before you choose a breeder please think about what kind of activites you would like to get involved in as not all breeders are producing dogs that can "work" in any particular venue. If you buy a dog as a "pet" and then decide you want to get involved in agility or obedience you may come into some difficulty, especially if that dog has no titles in any particular venue in it's pedigree. Locally, many breeders tend to be producing for conformation ONLY and I'd like a dog with beauty AND Brains. As for trainers, I could recomend Lietash Training Academy, Lietash Canine Academy - Training, Dog Sports, Boarding, Fun with your Dogs I know them through Flyball. They don't spcialise in rotties but they have been around for YEARS and as people involved in with Border collies, Jack Russell Terriers and rescue work, I do believe they have seen and dealt with a lot of different breeds and different behaviours. They have always been very nice to me when I've had difficulty with Bear at flyball and we LOVE going to their tournaments when we get a chance.
