Re: red rottweiler

And your point is?

You are correct, any color other then black/mahogany, black/tan is out of standard.

Re: red rottweiler

this is the link.. i do understand it is a default however... there have been many breeds that did not start out with many colors and the different colors came out because of breeding.. i did read further on the site that the color came about because of inbreeding, which of course has bas results.. anyways.. here is the site..

Re: red rottweiler

I would only believe that they are purebred if I had the DNA evidence of these puppies that also include DNA of both parents and their parents. This breeder is only kidding themselves if those red "rottweilers" are purebred.

Re: red rottweiler

Alright, I was curious. I must say, even the black and tans don't impress me from this breeder. The red is very unattractive in my opinion. I guess, I love the breed as it is. I don't understand why anyone would want to deviate from that. If you want red, get a Doberman. IMO

Re: red rottweiler

Personally i dont like the red colour, doesnt look like a 'rotty' to me - i love the black and tan colour of the rotty.

A friend of mine had a red dog (kirby was his name) i am not sure what breed of dog he was but it did look a lot similar to the reds on that site. He was definately not a rotty though.

Re: red rottweiler

A lady on another brd that I belong to has red rotties. I have told her many times that they are not "rare" nor are they registerable. But she doesn't listen. It drives me crazy!

Re: red rottweiler

To me... these dogs look like mixes; I have heard that a bitch can have babies from more than one dog (in the same litter). Maybe this happened and the breeder didn't know.

That is the first thing that stood out!! I was just going to say, white feet? No way!! Also, if you look closely on the shoulders, there is a tan-ish stripe down the shoulder blades which is seen in labs, huskies and GDS (sometimes Belgian Malinos)but NEVER in Rottweilers, not even the brown ones that sometimes show up. I think maybe they thought a Black and tan Lab was a Rottweiler...Iv'e seen this happen with a BYB a long time ago. For 10 years he was breeding Rott/lab mixes and he didn't even know. He was always wondering why some had white feet and white patches and some came out totally brown or black...hahha

Re: red rottweiler

hi also do you not think they look a bit long in the nose aswell?i do like b and t better but thats because as people have said the red just doesnt look right also the breeder didnt want to be named why?if they are pure and not interbreed sounds i bit strange to me

the point to this post jojo was to see what people thought i didnt know that a red was a result from interbreeding
now ive leant to keep well away from breeders saying this is a rare dog/pup from the responses to this post
and as this is a rottweiler discussion forum thought this was the best place for this post

Re: red rottweiler

i def think their faces look a bit long and thin with too small close together eyes... infact to me they look like dobeman crosses.

no where near as cute as little snub-nosed rottie puppies - i can't understand why anyone would think so!
