Sure, I guess it depends where you are looking.

If you find a breed club website, go to their breeder listings rather than just surfing the net, that is a better place to start anyway.

Re: is there a real coe breeder

I guess what it comes down to is, when someone is REALLY REALLY serious about finding a true COE breeder, they will do more than hop on the internet. Even if that is the best avenue they have, they can ask for references, contact them, go to dog shows, meet people in person.

COE is a state of mind for many. I know a number of breeders who do all of their health testing, show their dogs, work their dogs yet don't belong to a COE club. There are those of us who do and adhere to it, but are not by any stretch of the imagination 'big time' breeders. Personally, I breed occasionally, my priority is working my dogs and earning titles.

Sometimes you have to look past the BIG NAME to find what you want .... and to find a breeder who is doing the best they can for the future of the breed.

Re: is there a real coe breeder

Hey, we all know people in all avenues of life who are born salespeople, they can talk the talk .... to get to know someone REALLY, takes time.

There are some things that can be hidden and others that cannot. I suppose some breeders will try to lie about titles and health clearances, but things do come out publicly.

Don't know what more to say, the more digging someone does when it comes to researching a breeder and their practices, I think everything will come out, good and bad.

Everybody has to do their research and find what's best for them. I personally don't believe in relying on any breeder contracts. When I get interested in a breeder, I try to find buyers of their dogs that had problems, then see how it was resolved. All breeders (if they have been at it for any length of time) will have issues that need resolved. How they resolve the issues mean a lot to me. None of the big-name breeders in germany (that I'm aware of) offer any guarantees or contracts.

no i was not looking for a dog i was saying that there are people that support the usrc and say they support the rules are not. i know of a lot of so called ceo breeders that have breed litters that they call oops litter a real ceo breeder would not let such a thing happen. or have litter with dog that have not had there hip or any thing done on the dog and see the pup over sea as if the litter never happen or puting the litter in another persons name but the pups still have your kennel name.

This just supports the recommendation that you get to KNOW a breeder as well as the dogs when deciding where your next puppy is coming from. There will always be those who, regardless of whatever "standing" in the Rottweiler community they may enjoy or claim as their own, believe they are the exception to some very good guidelines for breeding.......so, you sort them out and look elsewhere for a puppy. That's just part of the task of "Educated Puppy Purchaser 101".

So just write them off your list and keep researching.

Re: is there a real coe breeder

Being "big name", being a member of a club, or having a fancy website does NOT make someone responsible or ethical . There are tons of flashy websites, and used car salesman type breeders out there that on the outside appear to be ethical, but underneath it all they're not doing our breed any favors.

No matter who the breeder is you need to get to know them yourself, get to know the people that have purchased puppies from them in the past, confirm health certifications and titles etc. Essentially it's up to YOU as an informed puppy buyer to do your homework! If you're not comfortable with their breeding practices, their puppy buyer support or anything else then don't consider getting a puppy from them (they're not likely to change).
