| heat cycle i was given an 8 month old female that i was told had recently aborted a litter of puppies. she was given an antibiotic and sent home. now she seems to have come into heat again, and i'm wondering if this is normal. they assume she had aborted, but no tests were taken to confirm this. |

| Why do you think she is in heat? Does she have discharge? This could be signs of an infection. ![]() Please take her into the vet again and have her checked out...and schedule a spay for her when her heat is done. Gina

| Re: heat cycle she was on an antibiotic for 10 days. she has been spotting for about a week, and seemed to be swollen. could this be a regular heat cycle if she had aborted a litter recently? |

| Re: heat cycle looks like an infection. by 8 months 1 heat only, if you get a 2nd discharge you better check it out. |

![]() If she was closer to a year of age...I could see that she in her second heat. When was she supposed to have miscarried these puppies? Is the spotting normal coloured? any green or black discharge? The vet will be able to answer your questions. Gina

| Re: heat cycle i would get a vaginal smear done to see if it is a heat cycle or an infection. they can have a split heat. which is, in heat for a week or so, stops, and then a few weeks later or so, come back in heat. how accurate is the info you were given about this dog? did they see a breeding take place? how long ago, supposedly? i agree with the rest, get her to the vet for an opinion.
