Talking mother keeps runt in between front paws???

The mother at first wouldn't care for the runt...we bottle fed for 5 days and kept bringing her to nurse on the mom. Brought the runt back to the mother and she is nursing her and seems to be caring for her like the other pups but she keeps moving her from the other pups to in between her front paws???? Does anyone know why this could be happening????? Thank You.

I don't know what the reason could be, but you need to make sure that the little one is nursing.

Keep a very careful eye out for where that puppy sleeps. If she crawls under the armpit of Mom, just a little shift in weight can suffocate the puppy.

Re: mother keeps runt in between front paws???

Thank you, we are keeping an eye on her...so far so good. they are a week and 2 days old today. She seems to be gaining weight rapidly and she will fight the ones twice her size for the food l0l and actually push them off. It's so funny Hopefully things will continue to be good. Thanks for everyone's help. Hope all had a Merry Christmas.
