Dogbase and ADRK

When people refer to the stud book, they mean dogbase right? From my understanding you can either buy the book, or access the dogbase through software, but you have to be an ADRK member, right? If I am not a member, what do i need to do to get access to this? Differences between software and book? Is the book also called dogbase? Sorry, I'm confused.

Re: Dogbase and ADRK

Is this correct, it costs $96 Euro to become a member of ADRK, and $60 E for one year access to dogbase?? over $200 CDN just to begin my research into pedigrees?

Re: Dogbase and ADRK

All registries have stud books to research pedigrees. The AKC no longer sells them :( In an effort to keep people from selling pedigrees (They want people to have to buy peds from them)

IF instead you need to research a German dog then you either need to pay that $ to get access OR you contact someone like Gretchen (bostonrott) who has access already and asked them very nicely if they will look the info up for you

Re: Dogbase and ADRK

I think the CKC is like that too. ADRK is more world wide though right? Does it include Canada and US rotts? What dogs get regustered to ADRK? From what organizations are linked to it? I kind of want to look at a bigger picture, cuz pawvillage and indiviual google research is limiting.

At this point I kind of just want to browse through it. I have nothing specific in mind. I did a bit of research in what I thought I wanted, but it became evident that what this dog produced wasn't consistent enough for me to take a gamble on.

I'll keep Gretchen in mind thanks!!

Re: Dogbase and ADRK

i BELIEVE Gretchen said a dog has to be registered with the ADRK to be in dogbase. But I'm not 100% on that

Re: Dogbase and ADRK

ADRK is for German dogs only. I believe the VDH in Germany is similar to AKC, but I'm not positve. I have Dog Base if you need something looked up.

So dogs registered with DVG are registered in VDH, right? What about sch dogs in USA schutzhund organization? (Man this stuff gets confusing). AND is there a database or book to be purchased from VDH registered dogs like the ADRK dogbase?

Re: Dogbase and ADRK

Since DVG is a working organization I would think that they would only maintain a scorebook database and not a registry, per se'. I do know that trial results from the States is sent to DVG's office in Germany to update their records there. I'll have to ask my husband about the other...this stuff confuses me, also!

Re: Dogbase and ADRK

There are a few seminars this weekend close to me (reason for me asking). Wallace Payne is in DC this weekend and Ivan Balabanov is in Baltimore area (I think).
