ADRK New Breeding Program

I've read an article concerning the new breeding program being used by the ADRK. From what I understand, this new program consists of each dog/bitch being rated for various attributes and then assigned points for each one. The progency from these dogs/bitches will then be evaluated and the parents points for each attribute rated will be affected by what they have produced. The goal of this program from what I understand is to pair off dogs/bitches whose progency are improving various attributes while retaining those attributes already considered close to optimum. The end result will be to eliminate those rottweilers not producing progency better than themselves and utimately produce better rottweilers. Does anyone have any information on this subject, such as how long this program has been being used, the attributes being rated and the rating scale for each attribute?

Hello Teresa,

The new ADRK Breed Regulation became official in July 1999. These changes are heavily influenced by the Dog Base System.

After this date only breedings may be done, when the means of the parental breeding values of the traits HD, ED and Undershot Bite do not exceed defined limits of HD, ED and Undershot Bite. These new changes in the Breeding Regulations have an deep impact in the future ADRK breedings. The ADRK hopes to decrease the numbers of HD and ED.

The owners of the dogs and the bitches both have to take care of this, likewise they are responsible for other conditions ahead of a breeding. So one must get the informations of the up to date values right in time. This information is provided by the Dogbase programm. So to get this info you have to own the latest version of this programm. But the ADRK also gives the breeder the chance of asking a breed warden or contacting the head office. As far as I know the breed warden will give you up to four different numbers (brood bitch 001 x stud dog 001) each month.

The values of the planned breeding will be accepted until they are three months old.

Here`s the formula the breeder has to make in order to see if his favoured breeding can take place:
