Doesn't alter the fact the puppies the quality produced at, by, or from Kimbertal breeding stock is questionable.
Could they be referred to as Professional backyard Breeders???

To me the new and improved contract to trade a bitch for pups from two breeding sounds like the 'same candybar, different wrapper.' http://www.rottweiler.net/rottie/rolleyes.gif

I have a Kimbertal granddaughter, if my breeder is to believed and THAT is suspect. Kimbertal appears nowhere in the pedigree. I certainly knew nothing of the kennels reputation, nor my breeder's when I got Gypsy.

Gypsy has CHD, for which she had a pectineal tenotomy. She is undershot, even thought he puppy teeth were fine. She also has a roach back, which I was hoping would come down a little as she got older, but hasn't.

I bought her for a pet with a "48 hr" health guarantee, i.e. NONE and could live with all the problems without complaining--except for the hips.

If any newbies from VA are tempted to buy in Western VA, PLEASE email me for a report on my breeder.

Their website is a disgrace. They make themselves out to be world class.

My 23 year old son purchased a Rottweiler from Kimbertal Kennals a year ago March. His temperment was great, very loving, and playfull. When he was between 6 months and 9 months he started having seizures. They were so extreme he took him to an animal hospital in PA and his Vet in NJ. After spending $800.00 on the purchase of the dog he spent another $3,000.00 on his medical care. Otto died on the 4th of July at 1 1/2 years old after taking a 2 hour seizure. Kimbertal has kept their part of their warranty by supplying my son with a certificate for another dog but that doesn't replace the $3,000.00 or the heart ache he suffered. He really loved this dog. I would be interested to hear if anyone else has had the same trouble with seizures. I am hoping it's only a fluke since my son was so pleased with the kennal and intends on getting another one from them. I know he can't afford another sick dog or the loss.

Mourning Otto- there are a lot of excellent kennels out there that offer wonderful, well bred rottweilers at a good price. Kimbertal is not one of them IMO. They'll sell to anyone that has the cash or credit card to buy their animals. A real breeder has ethicd, is concerned with the welfare of the puppies, does not sell to pet shops and certainly does not produce hundreds of puppies a year. I was considering getting a puppy from Kimbertal until I found this forum while searching for their website. Read these posts carefully! Though I am not an expert, I do my research. Like AngelBunny said, too many rottweilers out there need homes. I would personally rescue before I bought anything at Kimbertal.

MourningOtto:

Let me get this straight: Your son spends $800 on a Rottie, who between 6-9 months, starts having seizures. The seizures are so extreme that your son takes his dog to an animal hospital and his vet, with the bill coming to $3,000. At 1-1/2 years old, you son's dog dies after suffering a seizure that lasted two hours.

Yet your son is "so pleased with the kennel" that he "intends on getting another one from them."

Please, before your son buys another dog from that place, have him read all the postings that have been done on this Forum about this kennel. Anyone who 1) knows anything about Rotties and 2) cares for the breed doesn't buy their dogs.
