Vaginal Cytology/Progesterone Tests

Can a breeder do his own vaginal cytology's? this would cut out the vet and the high cost of testing? Are there any other tests, in-home to test for proper time of ovulation?

You can do your own smears but I don't think you can do progesterone.

Well you can do your own progesterone tests; but IcG (the company that manufactures the in-house tests) only sells to DVM's.

I'm unaware of another company that makes an in-house test.

You would also need to be able to draw a blood sample and have a way of spinning the sample down to serum. (Running around the yard really fast doesn't work )

The test itself is a no-brainer to run...but getting ahold of the test, blood and serum is the part that needs thought.
