Doggie Diapers? My female just finished her season. This is her second one. Tell me, is there anything that made for female dogs when they are in season? Its just such a mess because she's both an outside and inside dog. http://www.rottweiler.net/rottie/eek.gif She's too young and we're not ready to breed her yet. So please give me some info. Are there actually something like "diapers" that they can wear? Or is it a rumor.

No rumor - it's true http://www.rottweiler.net/rottie/wink.gif. Pet supply stores and catalogs have the "panties". The only problem is your convincing her to wear them. Nancy ------------------ von Dorow Rottweilers doggo1@apex2000.net

I don't know if you are using a crate. But setting one up in the house and keeping her in it for a couple of weeks helps a lot. I know that some feel this is cruel, but in fact I would recommend the use of a crate for all dogs in the house.

I use a crate when my female goes in season. She does get out but ofcourse not without one of us being on the other end of the leash. It's certainly a lot easier to clean up then following her around with a mop. http://www.rottweiler.net/rottie/smile.gif http://www.rottweiler.net/rottie/smile.gif

Yes, there are sanitary pads that can be purchased at most pet shops/feed stores.

If you think her season is "messy"...wait till she whelps 10 pups. http://www.rottweiler.net/rottie/smile.gif You'll then know what "messy" is...for at least 8 weeks of your life. (That's assuming that all the pups are placed the day they turn 8 weeks.) I agree with Orville. Crate her when she's indoors....and seriously...an unattended bitch in season outdoors is a "oops litter" waiting to happen. Even if she's in a run, behind a fence, out "in the country".

YES THEY HAVE PANTIES FOR DOGS BUT I HAVE FOUND THAT MED SIZE (HUMAN) ADULT DIAPERS WORK BETTER, BECAUSE THE OTHER ONES HAVE HOLES FOR THE TAILS AND MY ROTTIES DONT HAVE TAILS. ALSO I HAVE FOUND NO PROBLAM KEEPING THEM ON MY DOGS , GOOD LUCK [This message has been edited by Phoenix (edited September 26, 2000).]

When Nani came into season before we were able to get her spayed, we bought little boys underwear and put them on backwards so her little stump could stick out through the hole in the crotch. This way should could still wiggle her little stump http://www.rottweiler.net/rottie/biggrin.gif! I measured her waist and went by the waist size charts on the pkg's to determine which size would fit her best. This method worked well for us. ------------------ Heather Volunteer with Aloha Spirit Rottweiler Rescue http://www.crosswinds.net/~hawaiirotts/ [This message has been edited by Nani's Mom (edited May 05, 2000).]

Rudi, We too have used men's undies and then put a light sanitary pad in there to help absorb things. I was once told by someone that most bitches learn to keep themselves fairly clean and if you keep putting the pants on them, they'll never learn. Don't know if that's true or not. Mine spend plenty of time cleaning, and I still find plenty of drips......though my male tends to clean most of those up for me! ;-)

Yes they do make a deal like diapers...the snap on and you can use a sanitary pad in them. I dont think they work well... I think crating the dog would be the best option... and is my personal option. Best of luck in your endeavors.... http://www.rottweiler.net/rottie/smile.gif Bear [This message has been edited by Phoenix (edited September 26, 2000).]

| Thanks BigBear... I appreciate your kind, to the point answer. Several other members suggested crating. I'll have to get a bigger place for that...but now that my busy body monster has finally "dried up" I won't have to worry about that for another 6 months or so...
