Just devastating! I too am sobbing. The only bright spot is little sam was able to touch alot of people in your class and here and if he saved one puppy that's amazing. If one person decides to spay/nueter their animal as a result of this story that is fantastic! Little Sam is so much happier and safer now I'm sure. Thank you for telling your story, it is good to make people stop and think. Prayers for our littlle Sam.

OMG - so sad and the part that hurts the most is that you think you know about the shelters and you really don't unless you experience them first hand. Thanks for taking the time to post it has been an eye opener for some of us - definately should be a sticky

ok, some of the tears have stopped..... Guess not .
I just sent "Sam" to friends & family & asked them to pass on. I also sent to our H.S. where I vounteer, asking if we could print & put some of these on front desk, and we are having "adoption day" with BBQ coming up & this story would be great to stick in w/ adoption papers. Also to have on H.S. web site.
Thank you so much for posting this! (although now I will NOT have sweet dreams) Oooh the truth is hard to hear!

Wow-
I'm truly grateful for this thread. I was one of those people who were considering breeding my girl simply because she is beautiful, and sweet, and for the joyful experience. But after this emotional story I could not do so. Elsa, as beautiful as she is, has a slight physical flaw. I couldnt breed her and get perfection.

Thank you so much for posting this sad harsh truth.

As I sat here reading this, Tara was at my feet, chewing on a toy between loving licks at my ankles. I could not help but to reach down to pet and tell her that she will never have to endure that, but it only brought premonitions of that day, hopefully (dreadfully?) 10 or 12 years from now if not longer, that I will have to hold her and watch her eyes go from hopefulness to nothingness (as if I weren't sobbing enough reading the story).
How people can simply give up on a pet instead of trying to invest some time and money for training classes is beyond me.

My oh my, is that Rainbow Bridge packed full of unwanted love....

Please consider this my vote for a sticky, too.

That was such a touching story. I own a German Shepherd and will be passing this on to the German Shepherd web board I'm on.
