Icon5 What Do You Put in Your Puppy Packs???

I am getting some things together that I can put into my puppy packs for all of my puppy buyers. What I am doing is getting all of the parents' pics and certs. copied and bound professionally, complete with cover page and all!!! I was a marketing major in college, so this is right up my alley!

I have also got a few other things I am adding to it. I will list them below and I was hoping that those of you who breed would add what you guys put in your puppy packs too so I get some other ideas.

- a blanket with the scent of the litter and momma
- a toy that the litter has been playing with
- homemade biscuits
- a photo CD of the photos that I took of the litter
- samples of food that I recommend if not feeding raw

I think that is all for now, but I want to add as much as I can. All of my puppy purchasers except one are either current owners of Rottweilers or previous owners, so they are not blind to the breed, thus I am not adding a bunch of literature about Rottweilers, but I am stuck on what I have.

Suggestions???

Kristi

Our breeder sent us home with about 5-6 bottles of their well water...so that the pup did not have a big change in water right away. She lived out in the country as do we, but if a puppy buyer lives in a town or city...often the water is heavily chlorinated and does upset puppy tummies.

She also sent us home with 3-4 rolls of paper towels, and a bag of food the puppies were eating.

In our paperwork were show pictures of sire and dam also....kind of nice to see and maybe compare in the future??

Yep..or any "accidents"...it was a 7 hour drive home.
He was as good as gold and every time we stopped he did his business...the breeder had them well on their way to be house trained.

The papertowels did come in handy once we came home though...and I can count on one hand how many accidents Baxter in the house....usually it was my fault...not letting him out fast enough. I was well trained.

I also include information from the PAT test that would be pertinent to the individual puppy. Complete record of any shots, wormings and the name and phone number of the vet that took care of the pups and did their check ups so if the buyer or buyer's vet has any questions they can call.

When we took our Dobe puppy home (millions years ago) the breeders had a little phone book of pertinent numbers that included, like JudiW said, vets that had done the tail docking and ear cropping, vaccinations etc.
They had also had the pedigree done in caligraphy. Very pretty and frame worthy but not very readable.

All of the above, plus an embroidered crate pad that the litter has slept on, a photo disc of all of the puppy photos since day one and a box of band-aids (which everyone thinks is a funny joke until they call one week later out of band-aids )

Puppy pack with all the 5 generation pedigree and other certs. I mentioned in my first post. That is all in the pack that I am having bound so it is nice and neat for all to see!!!

List of phones numbers is a great idea.

Paper towels, I am putting some of those companies in business already!!!!

Assessment results is a great idea, I hadn't thought of that but I will do that too!!!

I include all of the above, including copies of the vet records (i.e. well puppy exam before being sent home). I do not vaccinate before puppies leave, but if the new owners are comfortable giving their own vaccines, I will provide the Proguard DPV.

If the dogs are breed tested, copies of that goes in too. I also put in articles that are important to me (i.e. supporting data for the recommended vaccine schedule) in terms of the pup's future health. Sometimes it's easier for the new owners to "discuss" things with their vet if they have valid cites with them, instead of just "my breeder said so." My next crew will get a copy of the Purdue study regarding later neutering and decreased risk of osteo.

I also have the new owners drop a crate off several weeks before the puppy is to go home, the crates are labelled and the puppies practice "crate time" in their own crates. This way, it also leaves with some of our home's smells in it.
