Breeders in AZ

I'm looking for a reputible breeder in AZ, prefferably one around Tucson.. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't met any in Tucson yet. However, this weekend is the big show cluster out at the fairgrounds. Rotties are in the ring at 8AM on both Sat and Sun. Come out, buy a program and see where the dogs being shown come from. You can talk to anyone with dogs ithat impressed you after the judging is done.

I'm not a breeder, but I'll be at the Tucson show on Saturday and Sunday with Legend entered in the 9-12 month dog class. I'd love to meet and chat with anyone (especially you Mary - we missed you at the Rottie match earlier this month!) that's going to be in the area.

My girl Dash came from Tucson, unfortunately it was a BAD BYB.I found her in the paper( before I KNEW better) This was 6 years ago, back then there were no reputable rottweiler breeders in Tucson to my knowledge. Maybe that has changed. I was born and raised there. When you get up to member status I would like to Pm with ya.At least I can tell you where NOT to get a dog from!I know a few people that might be able to help you find a great dog.

I just wanted to give you some more details on the Tucson show this weekend and STRONGLY recommend that you head out there for at least one day to take a look at the Rotties and start making some connections. Here are the times and rings for the Rotties:

Friday: 10:00 a.m. Ring 11 (40 Rotts entered)
Saturday: 8:00 a.m. Ring 14 (44 Rotts entered)
Sunday: 8:00 a.m. Ring 10 (41 Rotts entered)
Monday: 8:45 a.m. Ring 14 (34 Rotts entered)
Tuesday: 10:00 a.m. Ring 14 (33 Rotts entered)

The show is at Old Pueblo Hall & Polo Field at the Pima County Fairgrounds at 11300 S. Houghton Rouad.

Like I said, I'll be there on Saturday and Sunday - hope to see you there!!!

Hmm, I think joining this forum at the time I did was good, I would have never known about the shows.. Unfortunately looking at my schedual, I work both days in the AM. :o
Maybe one of you going could try and get some info for me.

I'm looking for a breeder that has good dogs but I don't really want/need a show quality dog.. just a healthy one.

If your not looking for a show quality dog. Why don't you check out a Rescue in your area. Our Claus came from North Carolina Rottweiler Rescue and is in perfect health.

It's something I'm definately going to check out. I havn't had a dog since I was about 10 so at this moment I have no clue where anything is, besides the mall petstores and such. So I have some calling around to do.

edit- my only thing with the rescue is I HAVE to get the dog at a young age, it betters my chances of the cat and the dog getting along. If something happens to the cat, I wont live to enjoy my dog heh. Do rescues normally have pups?

He is right. There are so many puppies out there. Look on petfinder.com or a rottweiler rescue group in your area and put yourself on their puppy list if they have one.

I don't like the idea of the backyard breeders, but if it comes down to it, what should I look for if I go to one? I got my ex a basset from a backyarder and from talking to people, the dog is show quality and in perfect health.

Well in my opinion it shouldn't come down to that. I know what it's like to want a dog badly but I wouldn't settle for buying from a BYB. I would either check out the rescues or go to a breeder.

There is no reason it should "come down to it". People that buy from backyard breeders are just feeding the tragedy and they are damaging the breed with every purchase. You have just begun your search. There are may good places to purchase out there.

Just because they are from a rescue does not mean they are from a byb. Some even have a pedigree.
