Looking for info regarding Central FL Breeders

Hi Guys! I know I'm not supposed to ask specifics regarding breeders in the forum but I would like to get some info on a breeder I've been working with. I would love to exchange PMs with someone who could provide me with some info. Thanks.

Steve

You can't exchange PM's until you have been on the forum for a bit. Sine you didn't put any of your screen names in your profile, no one could contact you that way either.

Do you have specific questions that could be asked without using names, maybe?

Thanks for the info regarding my PM status. I didn't realize it till after I made my post. My questions are pretty specific to the breeder so I don't want to violate forum rules. Would I be able to post my email in my thread?

Nope. That's against the rules.

That is also a no-no. The Moderators will delete your e-mail addy from the post. Although I wonder if it is against forum rules to post your AIM or yahoo IM name? I'm sure one of the Mods can/will answer that for me though.

I don't know if you can post it on the boards but it can be listed in your profile.

I just tried to update my profile but it won't let me. I assume this is cause I'm still a junior member.

That is correct. Until your reach Member status you are limited in what you can do on the forums.

Why don't you simply post those things that you feel are positive about the breeder and those that you might question? Does the breeder show his/her dogs? Have you checked the OFA database for the family history on health clearances? Does the breeder belong to a code of ethics club? If not, why not? The answers will be universal to any breeder. Warning bells or good info. What does their written contract state? What is guaranteed, what is the remedy should things not turn out? Refund or replace? Makes a difference.

and so on and so on and so on.

Thanks Judi! Here it goes, the breeder is a COE breeder. Belongs to USRC, ARV, and CFRV. She has show and working dogs in her kennel and seems very knowledgable. Offers hip and health guarantees. The parents of the litter I'm interested in are (Sire) OFA Excellent and (Dam) OFA Fair. I did verify this info on the OFA website. I'm just concerned about the breeding of OFA Fair. I wasn't able to find the OFA Info on her littermate but her Sire/Dam were both OFA Excellent. Should I be concerned?

If you will put in the litter number (exclude the last two digits) the OFA search engine will bring up the relatives for you. A fair with strong family coverage (sibs and sibs up the line) is perfectly fine especially bred to an excellent. Huh? How can a littermate have parents with different certifications?

I'm sorry, but USRC, ARV, and CFRV do not have enforced code of ethics. They have requirements if a breeding is going to be registered with them, but they do not have a code for breeders otherwise.

Anyway, keep asking/answering the questions. Show and working dogs......... what are their titles?

Judi was this a question for me? If so, I wasn't able to find the OFA info on Dam's littermate but her Dam/Sire were both OFA Excellent.

As far as working and show titles Sch1 , ZTP, BST, various AKC titles, and Multi V and V1 rated dogs. Her website offers a lot of good reference info regarding the breed and seems to care about the breed. The first time I spoke to her she did ask me a lot of questions regarding my background and interest in the breed.

Sorry, I was having trouble following along on the OFA saga. Sounds like she really is serious and doing the work. If you have met and like the dogs, that also tells you a great deal. Like I said, a fair is still certified as being free of HD..........
