| CERF and cardio numbers I am just wondering how many people get their dogs CERF and cardio checked without sending in the paperwork to get a number? I have gotten all of my dogs CERF'd on a regular basis (even spayed and neutered), but I have never sent in the paperwork to get a number. My 2 1/2 year old that I am showing now, I had his heart done earlier this year and sent in the OFA form because that is the only paperwork that the cardiologist gave me to say he was clear (echocardiogram). The breeder I got him from also didn't send in the paperwork. She had the orginals and gave me copies of his CERFs and echocardiogram report. Just wondering if people got the exams done, but just didn't spend the money to get the numbers.

| Never would I do the checks and not send in the paperwork. It is very inexpensive to submit it. PLUS anyone doing research on the dog it's siblings and/or the lines will never know if the dog is cleared if it's not in the database. That would be like having your dog's hips xrayed by an orthopedic specialist but never sending the xrays in to OFA

| I agree with Diane, it's important to have them registered, so that others may be able to research. All my dogs who are tested are registered.

| I agree on a global level to have the information in a database. I have had a CERF exam done at least 10 times (different dogs) and not once did anyone mention about sending in the paper work. It wasn't until the 4th exam did I realize you could. It could also be because after the second exam, all of my dogs were spayed or neutered that I got checked. Maybe it is because I had it done at a very large show and everyone just assumes that you know how to do such things. I was just wondering who did and who didn't.

| We send both in on all our dogs. I feel it is very important for everyone to do so in order to have the database there for others to research. It doesn't matter if they are spayed or neutered, the fact that their names show up in the database is important to breeders who are looking for siblings, etc. of a particular dog/bitch to see how the entire litter did in health testing.

| fbkeays, I can definitely relate. Several months after having done the CERT exam I reviewed the paperwork only to realize I had to send it in myself. Bummer. I did not send it in this time. I guess I'll do it next time. |
