"Could you educate yourself on some of the health issues of the breed, and play up the angle of "do you really want to lose a dog at a young age to XXX??"
(sorry, i couldn't get the quote feature to work)

******

i really wish i could. the problem is, since my sister got one from the same "breeder" (and it kills me they (my sister included) even call these people breeders and act as though these people aren't just in it for the $$), my cousin will just call me a "dog snob" and do what she wants anyway. a shame, really.

I agree with most here......we ourselves have done a few back to back breedings. In all cases it was only done after determining the bitch was in excellent health after her first litter, etc. And, if we did a back to back breeding, then bitch was not rebred for well over a year after those two breedings, if at all.

My original post answer was in response to the question about CONSISTENTLY breeding the bitch, not just one back to back, but several back-to-backs in a row!

my question was whether continuous breeding keeps a dog fertile and i think you guys answered that for me pretty well. so thanks to you all for your replies. and i see the difference b/w back to back breedings when you are doing it for the reasons you guys mentioned as opposed to the the BYB who breeds their female all the time, every time just to make a quick buck.
