| ever heard of kimmar kennels has anyone ever heard of kimmar kennels. they are located in southern maryland. i recently purchased a rottie pup from them. all there pups are akc registered and he sais he breeds for temperment first. when we went there he introduced us to the sire and the dam. both appeared to be in excellent physical condition. in the contract i had to fill out when i purchased my rottie states the seller guarantees the dog will be free form hip displasia of a genetic origin at the age of 2 years as determined by the orthopedic foundations of animals. if the puppy fails O.F.A. the puppy will be replaced. if is has conegenital defects it will be replaced for one year. Are these standard guarantees or is this particular breeder doing extra over others breeders. just want to know that i got my pup from someone who sounds repetuable. Lexus 3 1/2 y.o. female rottie Zeus 6 m.o. male rottie |

| I personally do not know the kennel. That clause is a standard in most contracts. But something to really think about.....if your pup does not pass the OFA, would you really be able to give that pup back??? I would think that would be so hard after having the pup as a part of your household. If you bought the pup for showing, you could still show him. But to breed a H-D dog in not recommended. Here's hoping when you do the OFA your baby receives "Excellant".

| thank you just wanted to say thank you for your reply on the subject. i would never be able to get rid of zeus. I am not a big of fan of breeding anyways so zeus will be fixed at 1 y.o. He is not a show dog maybe he could be but he is my pet so im not worried about any of that. i was just curious if that was standard or was that and exceptional contract |

What you've described is pretty basic (bare minimum) stuff. A concern for the pet quality animals is evident in mandatory spay/neuters, requiring OFA and offering forms of compensation are good things. Bottom line - you are a consumer and as such you have a right to expect some form of equitable return in the event something goes wrong. However, defining where nature begins and breeder responsibility ends is where it gets tricky.
