That was just too sad. Spaying and neutering are such inexpensive ways of preventing tragedies like that. I had the same experience with a stray cat once (I had her spayed and placed her in a good home though finding one took a while!) and she was so depressed for weeks afterwards so I know how terrible it is for the animal. Why do people seem to think "its only an animal" so it doesn't matter?

Wow. Great story about this wonderful man. I can only assume he is on the bridge playing with 100's of bassets.
