| There are lots of American breeders who have imported breeding stock from Germany. It is against the rules to post breeder websites here and anyway finding the right dog is not that easy as looking at a website. I would suggest you throw yourself into learning about the breed. There is a wealth of information here to be had. Buy some books. The Rottweiler Handbook and The Idiots Guide to Rottweilers are good. (Pay no attention to that last title. LOL) Go to dog shows, meet some breeders and see their dogs. You say you want a working/show dog? What kind of work? Rottweilers are very versatile. They do it all from SchH to obedience to agility, carting, therapy, SAR, herding, tracking and the list goes on. If you're interested in any particular area, you might want to look for breeders who share the interest.
Your dog will be with you for a long time. Research carefully. Find out what a reputable breeder is. So many first timers fall in love with that litter of BYB puppies and then are disappointed when the dog ends up with bad health and/or temperament. There is no shortcuts in finding a good breeder.
You might want to keep rescue in mind too. Many great dogs come into rescue every day. While they won't be conformation show prospects, many are capable of working in one of the many areas I mentioned above.
You've come to the right place to learn about the breed. Try setting your preferences to "show all topics" and see how much you come up with here. You'll be reading for weeks. LOL ;) |
