Sexual maturity

At what age do males generally become sexually mature. My Dakota is 9 m/o. I plan on having him altered as he has hip dysplasia but not until hi surgery. ( want to reduce the risks/costs of going under)Thanks

I am by far no expert, just having a couple of intact males and knowing others with intact males. My male noticed bitches in heat at about 9-10 months, but really didn't know what to do about it. At the time, at an obedience class, I couldn't figure out why he was acting so weird. The next week the owners anounced that the bitch was in heat. At about a year he was a raving lunatic around bitches in heat. I have heard stories of males as young as 9 months impregnating bitches. If you have an intact bitch that is coming into season, I would make sure one or both are locked up away from each other.
