| education Australian Sheperds, Pyreneese, German Sheperds, and even a Pit Bull when I was a kid. I currently have a rottie and a dobie. These are the breeds that I prefer now. I am concerned about the BSL. It would be a pity to lose the privilege of owning any breed due to ignorant owners and byb. It is probably an impossibility due to funding and red tape but wouldnt it be nice to focus on education instead of a breed ban? By education I mean a countrywide program such as an elementary class for children to teach them the basics. Like not approaching a loose dog, or how to pet/treat a dog, how to great a dog correctly. How about a mandatory dog care/handling class and a home inspection for anyone adopting a dog from a rescue group or shelter. What about a general knowledge test on care, training, behavior for anyone getting a dog liscense? Stiffer penalties for non-compliance? Some people just should not own dogs period. We need to do something, before it is too late. Anyway, I'm rambling now. I just want to know what you guys think? |
