Re: Don't want my boy to travel with a muzzle!!

I posted prior with the advisement to cancel booking and fly into Germany, Switzerland, Austria, GB = forget about Heathrow - it is so Big / disorganised. They almost lost one of the dogs I was travelling with.

Stay with an arrival in one of the 'friendly' countries. If you are returning to the US w/your dog - buy a round trip from the US for the dog. It is way cheaper than paying for the dog to return from Europe with you.

What has the OP done so far, to facilitate this trip with their Rottweiler - unmuzzled? Vet cert and sabotage are not really practical options.

Re: Don't want my boy to travel with a muzzle!!

Hello Graureiter,

I know my boy will have to be muzzled in public places while I'll be in France but I just refuse to have him muzzled for more than 11 hours inside a crate. He's the most gentle dog and I'm just trying to protect him and use his rights. It's probably going to be close to 14 hours actually cause they would want me to drop him 3 hours before the flight anyway, it's just crazy! Once there, I understand I WILL HAVE to follow the rules but I will never use the muzzle more than 30mn or an hour.....

Re: Don't want my boy to travel with a muzzle!!

To keep you posted, I gave up on the idea of using a lawyer cause we won't have the time but I have contacted IATA in netherlands and the Editing Team for TIM (Travel Manual) and they are both fighting with me to get the airline to not have him muzzled because they understand it is ihumane so now let's see if we can make it happen!!!
Otherwise, ill book with Lufthansa in the next few days, Ill keep you posted, thank you for everybody's help

Isn't it just ducky - one gives good advice - people post - ask opinions - then just do what the hell they like. what is the point of that???

I am missing it - perhaps someone knows more than I.

cheers

Re: Don't want my boy to travel with a muzzle!!

UPDATE!!!! I won!!! I had the final answer today that after fighting with IATA and the TIM editing company, they agreed to change the laws for Rottweilers and Hub will not have to be muzzled in his flight to FRANCE! I appreciated everybody's opinion and thank you for your concern! I knew I had to fight and I hope I saved lives of many more Rotties

See Makjamz, I guess it was worth fighting! Your opinion was definitely taken into consideration but fighting was my option and I'm glad I won.
Thank you again so much for your help and time

GOOD to hear your news. Now, on behalf of the rest of us - do you think you can do the same thing once you get to France?

Have a safe trip
