Lightbulb DC, Baltimore and Philly?

Hi all,

I'm new to the site and am doing some homework on Rotties as I am interested in purchasing/adopting my first rottie puppy in a few months when I graduate from college. I'll be going to medical school in about a year and a half, and I am applying to schools in Baltimore, Philly and DC. I'm writing to see if anyone living in these areas can fill me in on any breed specific legislation regarding rotties, before I get my puppy and commit to a medical school in one of these areas. Thanks for your help!

-Jenna

Do you really think you're going to have time to study for med school and train a puppy? It seems like a lot to put on your plate at once; I can't imagine that med school leaves a lot of free time available...

That being said, I have no idea about BSL in those areas.

Re: DC, Baltimore and Philly?

I will not be the sole owner/trainer, and will not be living alone - my fiance will be there as well. We will also have over a year at home with the puppy to begin a solid training foundation before school begins for me. Of course, I am aware that training is an ongoing process that doesn't stop after a year, but between the two of us I believe that we can manage. We are both very committed, absolutely love the breed, and will consider our dog another member of the family who deserves just as much time and attention as we'd give to any other family member.

Great that you are doing your homework and congrats on entering med school. Although things change all the time regarding BSL, this site may help you.
Punish the Deed, not the Breed!
I know there is another site with up to date info on this, just can't find it at the moment but will get back to you.

Congratulations form me,as well. Please check with your insurance too...you don't want an unpleasant insurance denial, or outrageous rate increase.
