Unhappy Halls, Tennessee

From Jodi Preis via fightbsl, bsl update @ yahoo, and jan cooper....

The following are quotes taken from the new Halls, Tennessee passage of BSL legislation! IF you live in TN, please take notice of how fast BSL is sweeping your state! Take action NOW and GET INVOLVED. Jodi did state the city clerk has been receiving phone calls from around the country...and did NOT understand WHY people were so upset over this Education must prevail if we want to protect not only our breed, but our rights as owners!

"the language of the ordinance did define pit bulls, rottweilers and dobermans as vicious dogs. Dogs of these breeds already in the city of Halls can stay but are subject to restrictions."

"the city clerk also stated she has already received a call from a nearby town that wants to pass a similar ordinance, so we need to keep our ears open for anything."

Re: Halls, Tennessee

If you have a telephone number or email for someone to complain about this to, I'll call and complain.

We successfully defeated one in a town about 15 minutes away from us. We contacted news papers reporters and many owners of these breeds of dogs showed up with the dogs with them. It was cool enough that the dogs could stay outside in their vehicle but the newspapers and news stations took pictures, interviewed people, and broadcast it on tv.

We contacted AKC, UKC, humane societies, and it was defeated.

We were afraid that if it passed in one town then the other towns would pass it too.

Good luck.

Re: Halls, Tennessee

Hey guys, I'm in Memphis, just down the road from Halls. This really concerns me.

What exactly can I do, since I don't live in Halls? I hope you guys don't mind me posting here, as I don't have a rottweiler.

I do have a 3 month old Cane Corso, which, as far as BSL's go, has the same issues.

Thanks, WB

Re: Halls, Tennessee

Sorry I haven't been back on....life is crazy these days.

I haven't received any more info on Halls. You can look up Halls info on the net, and contact the city directly. I know at the time that is what I did because I did not have their info in the mailing, and since then I have deleted it. I go through so many towns, cities, townships, ect that I just can not keep them all. Sorry I could not be of more help.

What can YOU do...or anyone for that matter? Get involved! Go to the ARC website and go to Jan Coopers link....sign up for BSL updates through emailings, write to city officals and legislators, VOTE, and join assoc. that are fighting to make a difference.
