Yes! The legislations our wonderful politicians are drafting and PASSING are quite scary This is why we must take a stand with not only pen to paper, but with how we as owners of this breed protray ourselves to the public.

So are they saying that a dog that rolls over onto its back to get a belly rub from a stranger is a bad thing???? Utterly ridiculous.

Re: Jackson County, North Carolina!!!

Aren't all dogs "potentially dangerous?" I agree with keeping dogs securely enclosed, but to limit things to rottweilers or pit bulls is both naive and ignorant.

Last week alone, Samson and Gretchen got a walk on my road on three different days. They were on leash at all times.

Two of those walks involved me seeing other owners' dogs running into the road. One of the dogs, who looked to be at least part chow, got in Samson's face. Another dog, a boston terrier, ran into the road up ahead of where I was with the dogs.

At first I thought he belonged to the two women walking the opposite direction. However, he disappeared (maybe his owner called him) but I kept an eye out when I turned around and had to go past his house.

One would think it make more sense and do a better job of protecting the public if legislation covered all dogs and was aimed towards dangerous dogs regardless of the breed. I saw and love this link, specifically the find the pitbull quiz and the quiz at the end of the page. Not to make light about the BSL that is happening but it is quite ridiculous. Pet Pit Bull - Breed-specific Legislation

I am very glad that dangerous dog legislation won here over BSL and this was in fact one of the major reasons we moved here. Since it was adopted labs have also been deemed dangerous amongst other breeds beyond pits and rotts. Really all dogs have teeth therefore all dogs can bite.
