Re: Please Sign Petition to Stop 5 Breed Ban In MN

There is some good news. I've spent the last few days emailing all the House of Representative members in Minnesota and so far out of 20 responses:

10 are against it outright
7 still have no opinion
1 doesn't care
2 don't support a state ban and think it should be up to local government to place restrictions if needed.

This first set of emails I sent out were just asking them what they thought. The next wave will be the airing of my views (very politely) and ideas of things that actually work for reducing dog bites, so if you have ideas, or know of laws that have passed that work, please let me know so I can forward them on.

I can't either !

The petition says: There are many loving dog owners who are in jeapordy of losing their best friend. Making this proposal is like trying to ban a certain race just because the media says they commit more crimes.

What does 'losing their best friend' mean? If the ban passes (pray it doesn't) - would people who already have rotties be 'grandfathered' but no one could get another one? Or do they mean they'd want us to euthanize all rotties in MN? The sign outside my house would read 'BEWARE OF OWNER'!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think any Breed Ban passed so far has allowed a grandfather clause.
According to John Lesch he would write an amnesty period in so that we can all send our beloved animals out of state. When I read that I was thinking he must be high on crack if he thought I was sending my dear Rottie out of state.

Well thank you John Lesch for giving me an amnesty period to get rid of the dog I don't want to (and won't) get rid of - he can KISS MY A$$ !

Done!

If every member on this site signs this petition and has permission to post this petition link onto other dog forum sites, there will be millions of signatures. Hopefully, the government learns what the government in Ontario, Canada didn't learn. That BSL just doesn't work.

glad to help ,
here in town a little boy was mauled by their neighbors dog , an australian shepherd . the boy is facing years of surgeries , no outcry in the news .
there is a certain double standard when it comes to dogs. the mob mentality that comes up in people scares me .

Re: Please Sign Petition to Stop 5 Breed Ban In MN

I signed the petition, I hope they reconsider. I can imagine how you are feeling, they have no right to take your dog.
