Info on NE Arkansas/Missouri

Hi Guys,

Have a rottie friend that is thinking of moving to the "bootheel" of Arkansas (NE) or the SE corner of Missouri. I was wondering if anyone reading this post might have anything to say good/bad/indifferent about the area(s). I have looked at the BSL in the areas in question but wanted to get opinions from anyone that lives or has lived in these areas. I am especially interested obviously, in how rotties are viewed, treated, etc as she is basing her choice of living area around her rottweilers. (As would I!)

Thanks in advance, I appreciate any info given!

Re: Info on NE Arkansas/Missouri

I have family all over se mo, and one of my aunts has a rottie. I think its the same down there as just about everywhere. A lot of misinformed people but, I never heard anyone saying anything bad about them. I think they take the appearence as im big, don't mess with me. As quite a few of us know, thats not most of our dogs. Mine acts like the one in over the hedge,(except shes not on chain, house dog,) Play, play, play, play? Good luck withever decision you come up with, but i dont think they have any bsl going on downthere. I will call her this weekend to check.

Re: Info on NE Arkansas/Missouri

Well, we relocated to S.E. Mo. 14 years ago from Chicago. We live
in a rural town POP 5200. Have an acre, we arrived, we came with
4 rotties. Rottweilers was like an explosion back then. Now the
novelty has worn off an a lot of the rotties suffered because of pure
stupidity. At least twice a month the K-9 control officer was asking my
hubby to go and talk to some owner, which he did concerning...a dog
on a rope tied up, no shelter nor food the list could go on and on.
Not only that all of our pets were fixed with the exception on one.
When he turned 7 he was fixed.

Home owners insurance, good vets are about the only problem. Finding
a good vet was the biggest problem. Most vets did not care for the breed.
But I lucked out and located one, she is a pure sweetheart. But she took a
job with Pfiser, but I can contact her in case of an emergency. So far
no breed ban has been established against rotties...there are some
communities that have a ban on Pitts, I happen to live in one. They
started one on rotties, by my hubby being a retired police Lt from
Chicago, he won over the A/C/O and a few others on the council
with Rufus's behavior. State Farm gave us no problems, but our pets
stayed inside 85% of time.

I am 2 hours from Memphis and 2 hours from St. Louis. so that puts
me right smack dab in S.E. Mo.

Good Luck
