Video: The True Character of the Rottweiler

As some of you may or may not now, BSL is something that is very close to my heart. It is always on the back of mind, I always have to be aware of it. Being in the Air Force, and never in the same place twice, I am constantly having to keep my "ear" on the floor to see where BSL is popping up, to know that's a place I can not move to, when either my choice to move or the Air Force wants to move me... While there is no BSL law for rottweilers in Miami-Dade County, I was forced to move because I could not find a rental apartment or condo that would accept Baxter. Rental Homes for a single person was to expensive. It was either give him up, or move. This video came from my heart, something I wanted to show people about how great our dogs are, that they aren't this evil black and tan dog that everyone wants to avoid. I get so frustrated when someone tells me my dog is aggressive BECAUSE he is a rottweiler, because of his breed. I would like this thread to be for people to share their reflections, stories how BSL may or has affected them personal, or a story about how your rottweiler changed someone's opinion on the breed. If you wish to comment on the video, that is fine also, but please don't make me a saint, I'm just trying to do my small part in helping the breed.

WOW! I don't even know what to say. That moved me to tears. You did an incredible job capturing the true essence of our breed. Many, many thanks to you. I can't wait to send this to every one I know.

This is a perfect way to get our message across to local officials who knee jerk into BSL mode. Thank you Linnea for your talent and time.

I seem to recognize a few of those dogs!

Great job and message - I was very touched and made a youtube comment. I want to learn how to do this! The more we publicly show our precious dogs interacting with our families the more people will understand WHY we love these super dogs!

Re: Video: The True Character of the Rottweiler

I would like to thank you for a absolutely wonderful video. As a new owner to a rottweiler, I am just now seeing the bad wrap that this truely one of a kind breed gets. My boy is only 7 mo old, but people are already beginning to cross the street and move their children away from us when we are out walking. I would love for the world to see this video, and know what a wonderful and loving companion these animals make.

Re: Video: The True Character of the Rottweiler

very true!
that is why we must all lend a hand and show our dogs when doing good to the public, have demos, do school education, therapy work, etc.
sorry you had such bad luck in miami. homes are extra expensive and many people freak when they hear the breed of rottweiler.
and try getting insurance here!
education and awarness!

Re: Video: The True Character of the Rottweiler

FANTASTIC! I've sent this to all my non-dog friends, for they are the ones that need to be educated about this very noble breed. Man, I just keep on playing it, over and over. What a wonderful job. Thank you so much and the breed thanks you!

I recognize a few of those beautiful rotties myself.

Please don't take me wrong... but I don't like pictures of kids "riding" and "hugging" Rottweiler published on the internet..... since not all rottweilers will tolerate that.
