Re: Video: The True Character of the Rottweiler

Great video. I really like the "lover boy" shots, with the rose and the chocolates. The kitten one did send me over the edge as well...... You did a great job.

Re: Video: The True Character of the Rottweiler

Love it!!!!!!!!

As for the OP's request to share stories of BSL--I haven't been affected personally, but I do have a friend who was forced to give his dog away when his homeowner's insurance threatened to drop him for owning a pit bull. It's been a few years now, but he's still devastated at having to surrender the family pet (who was, by all accounts, as gentle as could be).

Re: Video: The True Character of the Rottweiler

WoW! For a minute there I forgot how hard my puppy bites and the fact that he had an accident all over my daughter's bedroom carpet that has the house not smelling like a rose. My previous Rottweiler fit right into that video and I'm sure in time my bad little puppy will too. It's the face, I just love that rottie face. It's so full of thought and empathy.Words cannot describe what that video spoke of.
Thanks for a wonderful job!!!

Dear Baxter's Mom,

You are are a saint, and a creative one at that!

I posted my response elsewhere, until I found this area to do so.

I have watched the video 3 times today, each time moved to tears (really bad when you're wearing mascara at work, LOL).

I hope we can keep this video on this site. It is valuable and will enhance this incredible web site. I'm sending it to as many people as I can.

I am truly sorry to hear about your experience with your boy. It makes me steam at the ears!!!

Re: Video: The True Character of the Rottweiler

That was a wonderful video, well done! I had a few tears as well!

In Scotland, there is no BSL against Rottweilers thankfully, but, even after recent events with a baby being killed by two guard dogs, who, let's face it, didn't have the best of lives living on a rooftop of a pub and having no human contact, I have to say that public perception of rotts hasn't really changed!

Most people I see in the street or at the park or at the vets still want to come over and give my gorgeous girl loads of love, because people ultimately realise over here that it is NOT the dog, but the owners who are responsible for moulding their dog into a loving, obedient, tolerant pet. I think it's all about educating the public on how to responsibly take care of their pets, and if they are not willing to spend the right amount of time in getting it right, it should be them who are penalised and not the poor dogs who don't know any different due to lack of training and time invested in their wellbeing! And this goes for all breeds.

Let's face it, we wouldn't let our children run riot and do as they please, so why do it with our family pets? It's all the same.

Re: Video: The True Character of the Rottweiler

Hi, my name is Denise and I am new to the list, I just lost my Rottie of 11 years a little less than 2 weeks ago. If you watched this video, you saw her, her name is Phoenix, she was my friend and search partner, she was trained in cadaver recovery and served at Freshkills landfill, Staten Island, NY in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on 9-11. She is in the video after the title "They are heroes the walk among us". I am trying to heal after this devastating loss and I am planning to grace myself with a new friend and training partner next year. I look forward to participating in this group and when I am blessed with a new addition to my K9 family I will let you all know. Great job with all the wonderful pictures on the video! Denise

Oh my gosh, Denise, I had no idea... I am soo sorry for your loss... My mother bought me the " Dog Heroes of Sept 11" book for my birthday last month, which was how I heard of her and her story. Thank you for being there when our country needed you most, so many families depended on you and Phoenix. You are in my prayers as I know how hard this is for you, and again, I am so sorry for your loss...

Re: Video: The True Character of the Rottweiler

Denise, I'm sure I speak for all when I say how sorry we are at the loss of Phoenix. This is what makes us proud to be rottie owners, just knowing what these dogs are capable of and watching them in action. Welcome to the group.

Re: Video: The True Character of the Rottweiler

Thank you and Phoenix. When saw the dogs and their handlers working so bravely I was humbled. I really can't find the words to express our gratitude.
