PIT BULLS

Vets, advocates marshal support

Two local groups are increasing their efforts to address the pit bull issues and legislation in Kansas City.

The Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association, which opposes breed-specific legislation, is developing a task force to form an effective response to dangerous animals.

Kansas City Dog Advocates will sponsor a free one-hour seminar on dangerous dogs, local legislation and effective ways to protect the public and animals. The seminar, led by Ledy VanKavage of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, will begin at 7 p.m. Aug. 23 in the Helzberg Auditorium of the Central Library, 14 W. 10th St.
