Are Rottweilers next???

Check out this article: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8644998/

They have banned pit bulls in Denver. Rottweilers are also mention in this article, saying that pit bulls and rottweilers have caused the most deaths over 20-years of dog-bite data. If I lived in Denver, I'd be moving out as soon as I could! Just makes me so flaming ! Those poor dogs!

That is so upsetting. All due to irresponsible PEOPLE, not dogs.

It is shocking.

Unfortunately I think what will happen eventually is an owner will draw a line in the sand and defend his dog from being seized using deadly force.

We live in scary times, where our freedoms are being limited... all in the name of "public safety".

It's a slippery slope.

I happen to have the unfortunate task of living in Denver with my Pit Bull as this ban is in effect. I will not turn in my dog willingly to the animal control. Many other responsible PB owners feel the same way. You still see many PB owners openly walking their PB's in public eye here in the city. If it comes a day when the authorities force me to give up my dog then I will. But I will cross that bridge if and when it comes.

Many protests and petitions have been made to fight this rediculous ban. In this day and age I cannot believe that people in so called high positions cannot place the blame on the owner(people) where it should be placed. Any dog can bite, but 9 times out of 10 a dog reflects on it's owner. Good responsible owners usually have well behaved and socialized dogs and vice versca. For some reason the government officials cannot make this connection.

This is why we need all dog owners and animal owners to fight this ban. Like a previous poster said, this is a limitation of freedom. After Pit Bulls, what's next. They can take your dog, your house, and who knows what else in the name of "public interest".

"Unfortunately I think what will happen eventually is an owner will draw a line in the sand and defend his dog from being seized using deadly force."

I hope is doesn't take a rediculous/unlawful act like this to show how rediculous/unlawful this ban is in the first place.
