Breed Ban in Nova Scotia Denied

Hello all,

Some of you may have heard of a possible breed ban in the Town of Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia.

As it turns out, the Chief Administration Officer, Colin J. MacDonald, has denied the story published in the The Halifax Herald Limited.

"The Town of Port Hawkesbury is not considering a ban on rottweillers or any other breed of dog. Some years ago a by-law was implemented that would prevent ownership of pitbulls, but on sober reflection this was removed from the by-law when it was amended in 1996.

It appears that your information is in error!

Colin J. MacDonald, CAO"

The Halifax Herald Limited paper is being asked to publish a retraction to the previous story and the truth.

*sigh of relief*

Thank goodness it never went through. Heck only knows how things would have went every where else if it went through.

That's the point! It never was tabled. At least, not according to this official. Until a retraction is printed, I won't be satisfied. But it does seem as if some overzealous reporter.

They don't even have a ban on pit bulls as previously reported. They did for a year between '95 and '96, but it had since changed to a dangerous dog by-law.

"Fierce or Dangerous" includes without being limited: (1) any dog which shows a propensity, the tendency or disposition to attack without provocation any other domestic animals or persons; or (2) any dog which has bitten another domestic animal or person without provocation."
