UGH! One more black eye for our breed. This is really disturbing. Not to minimize the situation, but 33 people killed in the US over the last 8 years? More kids have been killed in school shootings, amusement parks, etc... Should we start banning those things too? It is very sad that our breed is being drug through the mud like this. What is going to happen to those dogs who are there already?? Are they going to be euthanized and thrown in the trash like worthless monsters?

That's a real shame! The wrong image of the great Rottweiler is sweeping accross the world. It hurts me to know that because of ignorance and lack of knowledge about canine behavior, a breed is being branded as a "dangerous dog". How sad

Even sadder is the fact that, here in the USA, some narrow-minded people don't care, since is not happening in our homeland! These people don't clearly understand the repercusions of such bannings and restrictions all over the world

What will it take for some rottie owners to realize the seriousness of this situation Rotties banned in whole entire STATES???

It is no longer happening in small town USA. Six years ago, Rottweilers and Pitts were banned in my town of Newburgh N.Y.. Soon, many other towns in the area were banning Rottweilers left and right. This will happen in other places unless everyone steps up and starts fighting.

I wonder if that owner understood rottweilers at all.And did he belong to a local dog club specialising in such breeds. And why did he buy the rott for in the first -place.I'm sure there migh be many apparently justifiable reasons for this but having said that hmmm.Plus this is a blow for me personally because thailand was a place that I would have definitely love to have visted with furbabies later.I was actually planning this for end of next year oh well boo hoo

Why is everyone so surprised that they want to ban large breed dogs. They are always taking away our rights in the name of For Our Safety. Yes some people are not responsible owner. But that is not why they point out the dog attacks ,shootings, muggings or car jacking. It is so we become afraid ,very afraid and need their intervention. If the majority of people are trained to believe that Rottweilers are evil, then they can have them banned. All guns are bad,it's not safe to do your own banking or drive with your car unlocked, let alone with your window down. It's a big scary world out there and we need some one to take care of us,or so they would have us believe.

German,

I hope you're sitting down, because Rottweilers and other breeds (mostly pit bull types) are banned in some cities in the US. I think I read that over 100 cities in the United States currently have bans on certain breeds.

Do a "breed bans" Internet search to find the latest US news.

There are US cities which have also banned Dobermans, Dogos, Filas, Tosas, Shibas, and even Shar Pei's.

Please do not post any stud dog sites as they are considered breeder's links and are not welcome here.

Thanks for your cooperation.

I am more than fully aware of it. I am well known in this forum for "rocking the house" about the present and clear danger of specific breed banning and restrictions in the U.S.A. Since I am so strong in my approach to create dog owners' awareness concerning the threat of dog legislation, some members think that I use "scary tactics"... Nope! just the facts ma'am!

It can happen here, if we keep living in denial saying "We are the land of the free!"... Really? And what about all those laws that prevent us from do as we we please?!... Food for thought
