Proposed Breed Restriction In UK

I read some bad news on the Internet last week. Some idiots in the UK are proposing to add American Bulldogs to the breed blacklist. That proves that if jerks ban one breed, then no dog breed is safe. I really hope that this breed doesn't get banned because the American Bulldog is a very nice breed. Where do these anti-dog idiots come from? The article about this is on Jan Cooper's website. Please read it.

You are far behind news. The UK implemented the Dangerous Dog Act of 1990 banning many dog breeds that are as good as the American Bulldog, aside from impossing draconian restrictions on dog ownership (including the Rottweiler). I am not surprise the UK banned the American Bulldog. British legislators have this "unique" mentality about what freedom and civilization is all about: it's their way or no way! the people are very hurt due to this ridiculous laws... Some people in America actually want to follow the Brithish example!

I'm not behind on news because I've known about this law for several years. I have wanted to see the UK repeal the stupid law ever since I first read about it. All of these kinds of laws are extremely dumb and I absolutely hate them.

I understand why you hate those laws, but in Great Britain those are their "dog" laws. As senseless as they may be, you would be surprise how passionately some Brittish are quick to brand the American Pitbull Terrier, and other fine breeds, as dogs with a "natural killer's instinct" (!?). So that it's why I am not surprise at all, that the American Bulldog is in their banning breed list. With such closed-minds legislators have punished severely dog owners because their dogs (Labradors, Dalmatians, etc) have simply bark!!!... at a postal officer!! or a passing-by pedestrian!!! or to a neighbor!! I am not kidding, do your own research and see. British Dog Laws are a real tragedy for dog owners in that land. Many people wouldn't dare to own a Rottweiler. They are very afraid, and righfully so, about the HIGH liability implied in it. Sad but true.... the worst thing: it could happen in America.

Well,
There's atleast one good thing about rottweilers in Greece. We have other much more serious problems to deal with and no one has the time and no one cares about banning dog breeds! But the media does more than enough. I had a hell of a time to change my parents and others opinion about rottweilers when all this media brain washing started (started in Greece I mean). Aside from the media, people from England were also telling my parents about the fact that they were thinking of banning the breed in the UK and about all these attacks when they found out that I owned rottweilers. I was lucky I owned rottweilers before this or else my parents wouldn't even let me own one. Now everyone in my family seems to love this magnificent breed, but I think that they still have their doubts. It's amazing what all this media can do! This is what alters publick opinion which can then eventualy lead to putting these rediculous laws. Sad.

You are absolutely correct about the media. They just spread too many lies. Too many people have prejudices against certain types of dogs and it is the same thing as hating people because of their race, religion, sex, etc. and that makes as much sense as hating someone because of the size of their feet. People are just too dumb and they need to get a life.

There are dog specific breed bans in the UK, Singapore, Holland, etc. In fact, the European Parliament is considering dangerous dog laws to be implemented in all European affiliated countries... even in some areas of the USA there are specific breed bans and/or restrictions. It is happening everywhere.
