maybe if we leave tails on our dogs

Hey since there is so much ignorance and msiinformation on rotts and they are banned, we can leave the tails on our future dogs and they will think it's another breed. I know it's a long shot but perhaps they'll think it's a mix breed or who knows a lab. I've heard that people whom have longhaired rotts or those with tails aren't ridiculed or bothered by others whom actually believe it is a different breed.

It would depend on the knowledge of the person. Tail docking is currently banned in Germany and a few other countries (Belgium and Sweden?) and so those Rotties will have a tail. People here in the US importing dogs from those countries will get a rottweiler with a tail.

To the general population, they may think it is a mix, but may still have some fear of any large stocky dog in black/tan markings. Our best hope is to train our dogs well, take them out and show the public that not all rottweilers are bad. Rottweiler therapy dogs are the best!

I know, I know. It was just said in amusement. I agree that this is the way to go, but like many others I'm tired of hearing and seeing this. It is terrible though to think of how many rotts and possibly other breeds will be abandoned to shelters or streets if the bans are put into national effect. I was wondering if they do this, will it mean that we will have to get rid of our rotts or just have them all altered? It would be difficult and terrible to have to explain to your child why the family pet has to be put to sleep or sent away in such a case.
