Talking 4 month old acting up in the morning

My 4 month puppy has been acting up the past two mornings. My husband lets her out of her crate, she potty's and then eats and plays a little bit. When my husband goes to put her back in her crate before he leaves for work she starts growling, snapping and refusing to move from where she is. She has done this the past two mornings and it's happend both times in our bedroom. Once she was on the bed with me and he went to put her in her crate and she didn't want to go. This morning the same thing, but she was on the floor next to our other dog, they were sharing a bed and she started growling and snapping. What can we do? What kind of corrections should we be giving her?

She doesn't need correction. She just needs you to be consistent in what you do at this point. She doesn't want to go back in the crate (can't blame her). But she has to, so be no nonsense about it - but not punitive. I suggest a few safe toys for only this time. If they are totally of a plastic nature, spread some peanut butter on them. A filled Kong with part of her breakfast could also be used. Put her in her crate with a specific command for this time of day. Tell her when you will be back, and then walk away.

Sounds to me like she needs more exercise and interaction, tire her out before you expect her to spend more time in her crate. She doesn't need correction, she needs more time and exercise with you, a walk before putting her back in is a good idea.

Re: 4 month old acting up in the morning

Thanks guys, after thinking about it today I think that it may be because she wanted to be near me? Normally, I am in bed that early in the morning. Also, hubby does all the things with her real early (6am) and then he puts her in the crate no problem before he leaves for work (8am) except for the past two mornings when she was in the bedroom near me when it was time for her to go into her crate.

I work out of my home and am here with her all day. She is mostly out of her crate except if I have to run a errand or for a nap. She gets plenty of training, walks, playing in the yard and inside the house with me and our other dogs. She has been very good with going in the crate, she even goes inside for a nap by herself at times.

When it's time for her to go in her crate I tell her "crate" and she goes in and sits down. I tell her to lay down and then give her treats. Hubby doesn't do things this way so that may have something to do with it to? He just picks her up and puts her in her crate, usually there are no problems except for the past two mornings.
