Re: Feeding Times

i found that if millie wasn't eating her dry food if i put a table sppon of tin food she ate it.
Another way is to leave it down for 15mins if she doean't eat it pick it up and leave her until her next meal. She will soon see this is all she is getting and will eat it.

Re: Feeding Times

I'm having a hard time reading your post and figuring out your issue.

At one point you say "you feed her on meat" so I took this to mean you're feeding her raw??

Then you say she "always got sick" when you mixed her meat, so you moved her to "complete dogs dry food" but she won't eat her dry food.

Are you feeding her raw? If so, what meats are you feeding her?

I feed raw, following the raw prey model. I don't grind or otherwise chop up their food, so I'm baffled why your girl gets sick when you grind her meat.

And, what is "complete dogs dry food"--is this the name of the food??

Re: Feeding Times

Yes, your post is confusing...to entice her to eat her kibble, mix in some cottage cheese or raw egg.

Re: Feeding Times

Check the ingredients on the back of the bag of dog food you're feeding...at least the first ingredient should be some kind of meat (not meat by-products)...if you tell us what brand you're feeding, we might be able to tell you if it is a "better" food.
I'd go ahead and mix a small amount of meat into their dry food (kibble)...I really think it helps them to have a bit of unprocessed protein...if she doesn't eat it after 15-30 minutes, pick it up. Don't offer her any more food until her evening meal...then do the same thing. If she doesn't eat it within about 15 minutes, pick it up. She may hold out a couple of days, but WILL start eating her food eventually.
Do feed twice a day; it is much better for them.
Check how much you're feeding also...if you are feeding too much, she may turn her nose up at her next meal. I have a multiple dog household...two inhale their food, and two are/were picky eaters. For a while, I was having to HAND FEED the two picky eaters and then half the time they still wouldn't eat so I understand your frustration. But I think you'll see improvement if you follow what everyone has suggested...it worked for my two!
Good luck with your girl.
