| I live towards center bottom of Missouri and I took Josie with me to visit mother, sisters, and friends just outside Pittsburgh, PA. Found out from sister that mother was leery of Josie's presence, she didn't trust rotties, worried about her cat, was a little afraid of having her in the house. Originally planned on staying with her. Ended up staying at sister's and her hubby's place. Sister is in pet grooming-knows rotts, no worries on her end. Visited with mom, keeping Josie on her leash with me. Mom's ALWAYS at the table in the kitchen with her coffee, and the door opens into the kitchen. I open the door and enter-Josie is sitting outside waiting for permission to enter, when I told her to come in she walked over to my side and sat down. Had her stay while I hugged and kissed my mom, introduced her to my mom at a distance, then signaled her to me. She came over and I signaled her to sit while mom petted and stroked her. Gave her the free command once mom got a sense of her and she stood up and licked my mom, stub tail going mach 3. Her cat, who'd never even SEEN a dog before, was intimidated-to say the least. Josie has 3 cats in the house with me, never paid any attention to it/didn't chase it. When I sat down with my mom Josie laid down at my feet. I told her to stay and went out to my van to get something, my mother was amazed Josie never moved though I was gone several minutes. She just laid there looking in the direction I left with her front legs crossed, but held her stay. Each time I visited Josie did the same things, stuck right by me the whole time. But now she's off leash in the house. Sitting together with my mom in the living room I would call Josie to me, have her sit, and give her some loving. After a few minutes I could quietly tell her to lay down-she stretched right out. If she was in the way I could tell her to move to another location and lay down-she would. Cat eventually came nose to nose with Josie by the time we left. Mother's view of rottweilers changed. She said she has never seen such a loving, well behaved, and well mannered dog of ANY breed like Josie. Makes a son proud of his girl. It gets better....... |
