Re: Rottie Changing Temperament?

I would suggest the gf do all the feeding. Dogs tend to respect the one who controls the food.
I would start with having the gf hand feed her meals. Making her sit, down or something else between each handful.
You have been given some great advice here, and one thing I wanted to add, is a dog that snaps or growls when you try to get them off the couch, does not belong there.

These are good suggestions--for a dog savvy person.

However, the OP stated his GF has never owned a dog.

Consequently, GF likely doesn't know how to appropriately discipline a dog. Nor is it likely she knows you give a dog a command once and if the dog doesn't do as it's told, you make the dog do as you say. It's possible GF doesn't know commands aren't repeated.

(It's not clear from the OP if Luci knows how to Sit, Down, and Come on a single command.)

The best advice would be for the OP and the GF to take Luci to class. That way they'll both be trained how to train Luci.

I completely agree with this AngleBunny, but once they are up to speed with training and learned how to discipline her correctly, the OP should step back and let his gf deal with the dog directly if her misbehavior directly impacts her, like jumping on her. That way the dog will learn she has to listen to both of them, in and out of classes
